Chapter 1: "The Auction"
She was dragged into the room, her hands bound tightly in handcuffs and thrown roughly onto the cold floor. The sound of her knees hitting the ground echoed through the large, space. Her heart was pounding, and she could barely breathe, but she refused to cry out.
Above her, on a raised platform, sat two figures: her father, stone-faced and emotionless, and the mafia boss, dressed in a sharp black suit, looking down at her like she was just another object. She had been brought here for one reason to be sold.
Her father didn’t look at her. His eyes were fixed on the mafia boss like he was just waiting for something. The boss didn’t look at her either, not yet, but she could feel his eyes on her, cold and calculating.
The guards who had thrown her to the ground didn’t care. They stood back, watching her as if she were nothing more than a problem to be solved. She wanted to scream, to run, but she knew it wouldn’t do any good. She was trapped.
The room was full of silence, except for the sound of her breathing and the faint rustle of the people watching her. She looked up again, her father’s face still unreadable. She wasn’t sure if he was even worried.
The mafia boss was smiling now, just a little, like he knew something she didn’t. The worst part was, she knew this wasn’t the end. It was only the beginning.16Please respect copyright.PENANAh9wyVwYi9P
