Chapter 2: Sold to the Highest Bidder
She wanted to run. To scream. To fight back. But she couldn’t. She was stuck here. With her hands still chained, there was nothing she could do.
The guards didn’t care about her. They just pushed her around, forcing her to face the mafia boss. He was staring at her now. Not in a good way. His eyes seemed to see right through her like he was taking inventory of her. Elena wanted to look away, but she couldn’t. It felt like if she did, he’d just see her as weak.
The silence was so loud it almost hurt. Her breath was the only thing she could hear, and it made everything feel worse.
Her father finally spoke, and it was like he wasn’t even talking to her. “She’s yours now,” he said, flat and uncaring.
Elena felt her chest tighten. She wasn’t a thing to be sold. She wasn’t just some item to be handed over. But here she was, being passed off like nothing.
Dominic didn’t say anything for a moment. He just kept staring at her, tapping his fingers on his chair like he was thinking. She felt his gaze on her like a weight. She hated it.
Her father didn’t even look at her. Like she didn’t matter. And then, just like that, her life was over. She was sold.
The guards grabbed her again and dragged her out of the room. She didn’t even look at her dad this time. She couldn’t. There was no point. She was nothing to him now. She wasn’t his daughter anymore. She was just property.
As they led her down the hall, Elena tried to fight the tears. She wasn’t going to let them see her cry. But inside, everything felt wrong. This wasn’t the life she wanted. She wasn’t ready for whatever was coming next.12Please respect copyright.PENANAYaxzzcToO8
