The pain from the blade protruding from her abdomen was nothing compared to the pain in her heart. She looked up into his shining eyes as he dropped to his knees in front of her, cupping his hands around hers over the wound, the blood seeping between their entwined fingers, making it impossible to distinguish one from the other.
“You saved me. Why?” He breathed, dumbstruck. She simply smiled at him as the blood trickled from the corner of her mouth and her tears began to fall. She’d never understood how he couldn’t see it – how he’d never thought himself worthy or capable of being loved. It broke her heart and endeared him to her all the more.
“Because I love you, I’m in love with you.” His eyes – a mixture of surprise, joy and pain – locked with hers and he whispered the words she’d always wanted to hear before she closed her eyes and never opened them again.809Please respect copyright.PENANAzsLiC3cnce
