If there was one word to describe the life Ash Lynx has always wanted, it would be contentment. Not joy, not happiness, just contentment. There seemed to be peace in the word itself. Many people took those two for granted. "If only life was easy," Ash would always say to himself. If only life was simple, but sadly, life was the opposite for him. Ever since he was eleven, Ash had been forced into horrible and traumatizing situations, ones too awful he would get a cold sweat just dwelling on them for too long.
The seventeen-year-old blinked his eyes quickly, slowly standing up and off the alleyway ground, grunting softly. Don't think much of it, of anything at all. He readjusted the cheap jean jacket he had bought for a few bucks around a year ago. Ash had had enough of the expensive luxuries his "fans" sent him. Don't think about them either. Beginning his seemingly mindless walk around The Bronx, he felt this one stroll would be calm and quiet. Putting his gun away in his pocket, he let his arms down. Ash knew that left him vulnerable, but who cared when all he was used for was to have his face plastered on magazines?
A few more turns down a few more alleys led him down a darker path. That's when he took out his gun, looking down in shock to find a man, nearly dead near his feet. His bloodied hair was plastered to his face, and his suit was ruffled and slimed with red. The person's eyes slowly trailed up to Ash, his voice coming out slowly and barely comprehensible.
"H-Help me... God, pl-please."
The teenager dropped to the ground, hesitantly setting his hand on the man's cold one. His mind raced with increasing paranoia. Who harmed this man? Why harm him? Why had anything happened at all? Ash had seen too much death and violence, but this felt different. This felt... personal. He didn't know how to explain it one bit. And as the dying person said his last few words, it all struck Ash. How did he know about that ?
"Forty... Forty-two Westwood, Los Angeles... Go see- go see Banana Fish."
