Jaime who had grown accustomed to finding her husband laying beside her whenever she woke up in the middle of the night, was surprised when she woke up to find an empty spot.
She didn't think much of it at first; maybe he had been called in to work at the hospital or he had gone for a late night jog.
But after a month of this going on, she knew that something was up, most likely something which she would not like.

She took in a deep breath as she stood before the mirror, combing through her long blonde hair as she waited for her husband to arrive. When she finished, she stood up and adjusted her dress before heading to the living room to wait for him.
But before she could even sit down, she heard the sound of his key opening the door, and turned to face it. When his face came into view, his chocolate brown eyes connecting with hers, she couldn't help the smile which formed.
"Hey," he said, walking up to her and placing a soft kiss on her lips.
"Hey," she replied. She followed him as he made his way to their bedroom to change out of his clothes. She observed his movements as he did so, asking him how his day was.
"Not too bad, although sometimes I wonder why I decided to become a doctor," he said, causing a smile to appear on Jaime's lips.
"You love helping people and what better way to do that than as a doctor."
Jordan turned around and gave her a large smile.
"I guess you're right."
She continued to observe him as he moved around the room, thinking of whether to bring up his disappearance every night.
When she felt like she was ready to ask him about it, he turned around and walked towards her with a large smile on his lips, causing her thoughts to instantly disappear.
Jaime woke up like she always did, just after midnight to find her husband gone. She sighed as she got out of the bed, making her way into the kitchen to fetch herself a glass of water, before going to the living room to wait for him.
She sat there for what felt like an eternity, waiting for him to come so that she could finally confront him, when she suddenly heard a sound coming from the basement. Jaime wasn't the type of woman who enjoyed investigating things in a situation like this but she couldn't help herself as she stood up and walked to the stairway which led down to the basement.
Taking a deep breath and hoping that nothing would happen to her, she began to descend, hearing the sound increase as she got closer.
She stopped once she was in the middle of the basement and strained her ears to pinpoint where the sound was coming from, concluding that it was the laundry room. Jaime turned around and slowly began to walk towards the door.
She turned the knob of the door slowly as the sound was replaced with silence which surrounded her. When she opened the door completely, she was met with darkness. But in the corner of the room, there seemed to be a blue glow─two orbs glowing a light blue.
She reached for where she knew the light switch would be and turned it on, immediately backing away as she was greeted with her husband covered in blood.
"Jordan?" she asked, feeling her voice echo throughout the room before her husband turned around, more blood surrounding his lips.
"What are you doing here, Jaime?"
She couldn't reply and instead, covered her mouth with a shaky hand as she saw blood dripping from what appeared to be fangs. Jordan took a few steps towards her, causing her to subconsciously take a few back.
Once she was able to think straight, she turned around, intending to run away and out of the house. But before she could take another step, Jordan came into view.
"How─"
"Where do you think you're going Jaime?" he asked, his voice unusually deep as his eyes continued to glow at her. She opened her mouth to speak but her fear took over, causing unintelligible sounds to emanate from her lips.
Jordan sighed and raised one of his bloody hands, softly touching her cheek. Jaime was too shocked to push him away.
"I never meant for you to see this Jaime. I knew you'd react like this."
She continued to look at him as he wrapped his arms around her, bringing her closer to him in a tight embrace.
"I'm sorry my love," he whispered into her ear, causing a chill to run down her spine. He placed a soft kiss on the side of her head and that was all it took for her to snap out of her terrified trance, pushing her husband away from her.
Jordan's eyes, which were still glowing a light blue color immediately returned to their normal brown color.
"This is what you've been doing every night?" she whispered, still finding it hard to believe what she had seen. He didn't reply and instead, looked away from her.
She turned around and walked into the room which she had found him in, to see a dead woman, her blood oozing from her neck.
"You're a..."
"A vampire," Jordan finished her sentence.
"I didn't know that existed," she said, her voice coming out more calmly than she felt.
Of course, she was relieved that her husband wasn't cheating on her. But she didn't know what was worse, him being a vampire or the thought of him cheating on her.
