The mother smiled, holding her daughter close to her swelled chest. The baby poked around with her nose, trying to find a place to nurse. "She looks like you, love."
The doctor walked closer to his wife and pulled her into an embrace in his arms, careful not to harm his child. He kissed the top of her head then does the same to his newly-born baby girl. His kind face suddenly turned stern and cold like stone. "Honor. She's our Honor to the country. She’s the only Honor we have until wartime. Without her, we will be shamed." He placed his hand on his daughter's cheek.
“Shamed because you cannot save all of your patients?”
“There is no Honor in letting the ill die,” he said gravely. “There is only shame.” He clenched his fist a bit, staring off into space.
The mother stayed silent for a moment, thinking while looking at her husband. "Yes, what shall we name her?" the young mother said all of a sudden.
The doctor thought, tapping his chin with his hand. "Akira-Lee. We shall call her Akira-Lee Yuki. A perfect name for her."
She looked at him, having a calculating look on her face. “Intelligent? I was thinking something more along the lines of Harmony. Kazue or Honoka. Lee isn't even of our land, but our large neighbors. China."
“I like Akira-Lee the most. It fits her. She looks like a genius to me. Those eyes hold the wisdom of our ancestors. It doesn't matter if we use a name not used in our own country. It makes her name more unique.”
"Yes, I suppose she does," Mother Yuki whispered. Her husband leaned into them, causing her to slightly tighten her grip. "Careful now. She's small and fragile."
"Yes, love, I am a doctor after all. I studied babyology. I know everything about these little things," Father Yuki whispered in a joking way, patting Akira-Lee's dark-haired head.
"You're silly. Babyology is not a real thing," she replied, her voice breaking off into a little laugh as soft as a bell. He laughed with her, wrapping his arm around her gently. Little Akira-Lee made a small whine, nursing, not liking the movement around her. She moved, stopping her meal to make her feeling clear. Her father pecked her cheek softly, somewhat nuzzling Mother Yuki's chest. "Akira-Lee, you will do great things when you are older. You are Honor itself, and Honor is you."
Akira-Lee lifted her small head from her food source, looking up at her father's identical brown eyes. She smiled a knowing smile at him.
