She was my first friend, my only friend, when I first moved to this small town. I wasn't the prettiest girl when I first moved here in the 3rd grade. My 8 year old self was about 4'9 and was oversized. I would wear baggy pants and shirts, sometimes even shorts that looks like a soccer players. Maybe that's why it took a while to make friends I'm not quite sure. I wasn't big on the "Hey we're moving and you have to switch schools thing". But when I took the tour of the school Rachel was the one in the back who saw I was nervous. She had a big smile and waved, she wore different colored headbands with flowers or butterflies on them. I was also so shy I didn't even bring a snack for snack time or drink my milk, but Rachel would bring me a snack everyday, particularly a fruit by the foot or fruit roll up. In fourth grade she helped me grow spread my wings a bit. We both did this thing called "girls on the run". It was this thing where on Tuesdays and Thursdays where we would just run for 45 minutes to train for a 5k. I remember when Rachel said "I remember the day my family called you pretty", to sum it up I lost a lot of wait doing it. For about 3 years on almost every Saturday I would spend the night with her and often times we would hang out at her grandma's house because her family goes every Saturday . Her family was my family and my family was hers. We were like sisters attached at the hip. In fifth grade it was a bit different though because got different teachers but we were still closer than anyone. We did volleyball together and both the coach and girls on our team thought we were twins. Birthdays were big for us cause we were technically born within 48 hours of each other. We would decorate each others lockers with embarrassing pictures of us making funny faces, inside jokes, and balloons. In 5th we even had our birthday party together. We told each other everything LIKE ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. We would go to the mall together, swimming, movies, or even laying on the bedroom floor laughing so hard at something stupid until one of us peed.
