A long time ago, there was a girl who wandered into the small kingdom of Phir, wounds all over her body and eyes as blank as a brand new sheet of paper. The kingdom had little to nothing for its name, only known to few as the kingdom that specialized in potions.
This little girl however, was no ordinary girl... she had black hair and lavender eyes. A beautiful rarity among the normal blondes, browns, redheads, blues, greens, and grays. Her strange coloring meant only one thing: She was a liya.
A special being that was able to see glimpses of the future.
The king of Phir took the girl in, realizing her potential, and raised her as a princess. However, he did not want her to become a weapon just like the other liyas. He wanted her to become a protector. She became just that.
One day, when Rehenna was just a little over eight years old, she was sitting on her balcony when the king's servant had introduced her to a boy her age.
"This is Jui, he's going to be your royal Knight when he grows up." was all the servant said.
Being isolated in her room since the day she arrived, the only people she had ever come in contact with was the servant and the king. Through her few experience, she become quiet and emotionless, her only use being her powers. Powers that weren't even as strong as the others, with her only being able to see shapes and colors. Little scenes.
"Hi, I'm Jui!" was what the bright bubbly boy said. What caught her attention was not his voice, but his eyes. They were the brightest green she had ever seen.
So unnatural.
Rehenna never spoke a word to him, until the day she decided to make a poem about the two of them. Those were the first words she had ever spoken around his presence.
Years, years, and years passed, and soon, Rehenna was already at the blooming age of sixteen. Jui had already completed his training as a knight, and was working hard to become the best. He wanted to protect his mistress to the best of his abilities. Rehenna and Jui were as close as they ever could become.
However, the princess knew one that that he did not. He was to become a murderer.
Blood. Death. Fire. Murky green eyes. Unloving.
Those were the elements that Rehenna saw in Jui's future, for a reason that she didn't know of. Her powers were too weak. With no one to teach her, she was even weaker.
She didn't know when, and she didn't know how, but soon, Jui was going to leave her forever. Every single day she feared for its arrival, and every single day she held in the tears that threatened to pour every single time she saw the same vision. This caused her to grow afraid of gazing into those leafy eyes.
It was a cold and dreary night when it happened. Rehenna was fast asleep, and her balcony was open to let the cool breeze fly in.
A mistake.
Rehenna was abducted that night by a thief who wanted to sell her powers to another. When that same thief got cornered by the royal guards, Rehenna unconscious on his shoulder, he jumped off of the cliff that no one can survive. He jumped with Rehenna along with him.
Jui watched her die in front of him. He grew isolated, miserable, and downright insane. He had failed to protect his mistress, the princess of Phir, and the only thing keeping the kingdom alive.
But did she really die?
Rehenna was able to survive, her bones broken, her skin scarred, and her eyes left blind. Due to her power as a liya, she was able to heal, but not to an extent that everything remained just as it was.
Her first thought was: "I need to find Jui."
She crawled through the forest despite her injuries, and when she emerged from it's wooden darkness, Rehenna fell into an adventure she wished had ended faster.
Being blind, Rehenna had lost the power to 'see' into the future. This made her journey difficult, but with the help of new friends, she was able to fight her way through the terror. All the while she was fighting, Jui was falling into insanity's abyss as he fought in a new war to protect Phir.
Death. Blood. Screams. Murky green eyes. Unloving.
By the time Rehenna was able to return to Phir, it was already falling into ruin, with little soldiers left alive. One of those soldiers being Jui. He was unrecognizable, and so was she. They had both gone through the worst, but that didn't stop her.
She walked towards him, with the help her friend, and called out his name. To which he responded with a sword one inch from her throat.
Jui was shaking. His voice was quivering. It could be any liya, any. Rehenna was dead, and there's no changing that. This couldn't be her, it was a fake. The enemy's liya sent here on a suicide mission to fool the best knight in Phir.
He didn't believe it, until Rehenna recited the poem that she made for him. A poem that only the two of them knew of.
Jui broke down, his dark green eyes wet with tears left unshed. He held her scarred hands.
"Would you still love me, even though my skin is no longer as soft as silk?" asked Rehenna as Jui caressed her fingers. "Would you still love me, even though I am already powerless?" she asked as his hands glided over her bandage covered eyes, no more lavender, "Would you still love me, even though my hair's no longer flowing like waterfalls?" she asked as he slipped through her short and uneven hair, "Would you still love me, even though my voice is no longer that of an angel's?" she asked as he hovered over the scars around her throat.
The tears finally fell from his eyes, and then slowly, Jui whispered, "I love who you are... not the image that makes you. Please, remind me, who are you, my love?"
Rehenna sobbed and held the hand that cupped her cheek, her voice croaky and pained.
"Rehenna...!"
