Milly's Pov
"Which car do you want to take?" Eric asks me There are plenty of cars to choose from-Audi to Hummer. I have never had to choose between which car to get into ; this is all new to me.658Please respect copyright.PENANAOolLugBZ4P
"Ummm...can we just take that Jeep?" I ask him. black-jeep658Please respect copyright.PENANAjFYMQmCXkR
He grabs the keys to Jeep from off the wall of keys and says "Sure." he continues "other girls would have chosen the Mercedes or something other than a Jeep."
"I am not like other girls"I scoff while getting in the Jeep. Inside it is extremely clean. The car still has the "new car" smell that a band new car has when you first buy it. There is no trash, receipts or even a speck of dust in this car and I am afraid that I will make it dirty.
I buckle in my seat belt and Eric starts to drive away. I look at him and how he is not wearing a seat belt
"Are you seriously going to make me put on a seat belt?" he asks me surprised
I do not know how he passed his drivers test if he doesn't even put on a seat belt. Any normal person would put one on.
"Yes. Now please put on your seat belt." I tell him
Eric reaches over and grabs my seat belt strap. He pulls it tighter and says "Hold on tight."
"Thank you for the ride home. I definitely owe you!" I shout from my front porch.
Eric's erratic driving and loud music made me sick to my stomach and made me half deaf.
"No problem. If you keep wearing that shirt and those jeans when you are around me, that will be payment enough." Eric smiles and winks at me.
"Go home you perv!" I yell from the stairs of my house. Eric drives away and I go inside my house.
Everything is turned off and the only thing that I can hear is my movements. I take off my shoes and tip toe up the stairs to my room. I change my clothes and go to bed at three in the morning.
Eric's POV
Her perfume lingers in my car even after she leaves. I open the windows to air her out, I don't want to be reminded of her.
I speed back to my house where the party is still going strong. People are screaming, dancing and drinking. There are red solo cups everywhere. I push past people to get to my room, where I lock the door, take everything off but my underwear, turn on the t.v. and slowly fall asleep.
I wake up to the vacuum cleaner and there is no doubt in my mind that I know who is cleaning. I stomp down the stairs. David is vacuuming. My idiotic brother is vacuuming. David looks like me but he is a bad ass. He smokes what seems like every drug known to man kind. He's 18 and a senior in high school. He sleeps with every girl his eyes lay on and is just disgusting. David
"Really!" I yell so he can hear me. The vacuum turns off and he looks at me with the cocky grin he looks at everyone with.
"I'm sorry. I forgot that you needed your beauty sleep." the vacuum cleaner turns back on. I swear it has to be at least nine am!
I go back to my room and check my phone. Two messages from the girl I took home last night and it turns out to be 12:15 pm.
I open the messages and they say:
-I forgot my purse in your Jeep last night. Could you bring it to me?-
Great. I have an excuse to leave the house and to see her again.
I dress in an all grey outfit with white shoes. All grey-outfit. I take the Jeep because that 1. has her purse and 2. it would be easy for her to recognize.
Making sure that I take as long as I possibly can to get to her, I go to Burger King. I order inside to waste time and order my "usual". For me the usual consist of a Whopper, fries, and a large Coke.
While I wait, I scroll through Instagram. I see what I see everyday. My "friends" and their fake happiness and their copied captions. I hear girls snicker and whisper as they walk by me. This is normal for me. everywhere I go girls exactly that. I've learned to ignore it. i grab my food and leave.
I pull into Gabby's driveway behind to other cars. I walk to the screen door and ring the doorbell. A middle aged woman comes to the door to greet me. She has black hair that is tied back. She doesn't look old but she is.
"Hi! I am Adrienne. And you are..?"
"I am Eric and I am here to see your daughter." I say calmly.
She ushers me in and all I can smell is cake. I don't know if she is baking or if that is a candle. The living room looks comfortable with a flat screen mounted on the wall and one huge sofa in front of it.
"Milly is in the kitchen. You can join her if you want to." she tells me. before going back to what she was doing.
Graciously, I walk into the kitchen. Milly is standing in front of the oven wearing joggers and a t-shirt. Her hair is in a messy bun and even though I am looking at her from the back, I know that she is beautiful. For a moment I just stare at her. Kitchen
"Can I join you" I ask her. She turns around and I knew that I was correct. She is just as beautiful from the front as she is from the back. She looks at me with a mozzarella stick in her mouth and nods. We don't talk for a long time and I end up thinking that she doesn't want me there.
I eat my food and she eats her's. I end the silence by asking her "How are you?"
"I am good. I am also trying to eat so please stop talking to me."
Taken aback by this, I remain silent until Milly belches. She laughs at herself and says excuse me. I start to laugh because I have never met a girl who can burp that loud and still look that good. She is definitely a keeper.
"Some lady you are!" I exclaim
Milly retaliates by saying "Sorry it was better than yours". I gasp. Milly can't possibly think that her burp is better than mine
"Oh really?" I take a large swig of my Coke and I feel the acidic liquid running down my throat and I burp as loud as I possibly can. She looks at me wide-eyed with her mouth open. I smile a toothy grin at her. Milly doesn't laugh and she doesn't smile which makes me think that I did something wrong.
Milly throws away my trash and as obligated as I feel I wash her dishes. While washing her dishes, she asks me "What school do you go to?"
"I go to Arden High School. What about you?" Arden looks like a castle on the outside and the inside I guess would be considered school looking. School
"I go to Banks Academy." She smiles.
"So you are a preppy girl." That changes Milly's mood.
"Would that really matter? You can associate me with "preppy" or whatever else you see fit but that is not me. Got that?"
I didn't expect her to react like that or for all of that anger to come out of someone like her.
"Someone is feisty too!" I snicker trying to make her laugh too. She is still mad and she doesn't laugh. she becomes inches away from my face in a matter 0.5 seconds. Milly looks directly into my eyes and I can tell that she is offended.
"Let's see how you you like it when I characterize you. You are a pompous, arrogant, judgmental, disgusting pig. You think that being perverted and cocky will get you somewhere when you and I both know it won't. You think that every single girl wants you in their pants and I am pretty sure that is not true. So go ahead and say that I am preppy because that I am more mature than you and that I have more class than you will ever have."
Normally I would have fired back at someone if they talked to me like that but she is different. Something inside of me made me want to listen to what she was saying.
"You're completely right. The way that I acted last night was out of line. I was acting like an idiot. Promise that it will not happen again. I put your purse on the table by the door. Maybe we can meet again sometime." I grab my keys and walk to my car. Milly waits at the door watching my drive away.
