Let's talk about... coming back from hiatus.
What's the word, baby birbs?! For a while, I reckoned I would confine all of my musings to my Goodreads dashboard, but I've since discovered that that platform isn't really geared toward casual blogging like Penana often is. So, I've decided to keep my more personal rambles here - and leave the official announcements to my publishing team on Goodreads.
Here's what you can expect from me in the near future (+some fun facts about the why/how behind some of the projects):
Dragons, merfolk, and bromance - If it doesn't pick up in popularity, I'm gonna drop it. It's not that I'm not passionate about the story I want to tell... More so, I find myself only able to focus on so many projects at a time and if there's no interest in something, it falls to my literary back-burner. For now, it sits in development hell.
Quiet in the Star of the Spice King:
Sacrifice, intrigue, and a universe teetering toward destruction - What happens when you have an entire world space that only exists because its gods exist... and then those gods start dying? How does the universe unravel? And when everything is ended and quiet... what remains? Told over the course of four seasons, Quiet intends to prove what a lonely falling tree sounds like... or, it would, if anyone wanted to know.
Robots, ghosts, and romance - This short story collection will actually be removed soon. It's getting published in August, along with four other secret novelettes. Go read the collection for free while you still can!
Cyberpunks, mages, and the search for a physical soul - The already published issues will remain on Penana for another year or so, but after that, they'll be removed - pending the release of the WHOLE book on Amazon. For readers unfamiliar with the project, Kinigos is the third installment in the Doulosi Universe series - the first two of which you can find for free through Kindle Unlimited. Check my bio for links, if interested. It begins with The Glass Cloister, which has garnered a bit of a niche following on Goodreads and Amazon.
Murder, Unseelie, and book-hunting - This one is actually a bit of a passion project of mine, and has been for over a year now. I intend to continue writing in it little by little, especially once I get back stateside. You should see the next issue of it pop up before the end of May. I did a lot of research and travelling during that story's planning phase, so I don't want any of my uncanny experiences to go to waste.
Gods, grav-bikes, and amnesia - When I was first writing IM back in 2018, I thought it would be another big book release... but I just don't see the market for it anymore. If anyone wants to read the last of the chapters, let me know and I'll post them. As it stands, I'm this close to taking it off Penana just to preserve my sanity.
Comedy, villainy, and adventure - While publishing/marketing Box of Wet Matches and the Vassal State Trilogy, I've been writing Jane the Lich pretty exclusively. It is unabashedly a self-insert story, and I'll be the first to criticize it for that reason... but I love it anyway. Every two-dimensional character, every roasted trope, every dastardly deed our lady-villain gets up to... I'm desperately in love with the elements in this story and I hope you'll come along with me as Jane turns all our favorite Fantasy cliches on their heads... or at least onto their backs, haha!
I believe that's all I've got for now. If you get the chance, check me out on Goodreads, Twitter, or Facebook - you know, the usual suspects - and leave a like, a comment, a follow, et al. on Penana!
I adore you guys - and I'll be the first to admit that peer-pressure and the validation of strangers makes up, like, 95% of my motivation to continue writing... So keep those praises, critiques, and thinly veiled threats a-comin'!
Much love,
Blondie
