To be honest, my favorite part about writing is naming the chapters.

Leo had to drive Chris and me to the hospital because taxi cab drivers have no pity towards a Starbucks cashier, a half-writer, and a homosexual Christopher Robin.

I received a call that told me Peter Pan was down. Worried, I climbed into the car. Even Leo was showing slight concern. None of the doctors had been quite certain what happened. Surgery was the only treatment clarified at the moment. Melodramatic fear ran cold through my veins. I was supposed to be Peter's lost girl—I was supposed to be there.

Nervously, I succumbed myself to worry. If surgery had to be performed, it was surely bad. Leo noticed my worry and tried to give a consoling smile.
"I'm sure he's going to be alright." It was hard—accepting Leo's endeavor towards making me feel any better.
I paid my attention to the boy in the backseat. Chris had a blank expression that made me wonder if anything was wrong.

"Chris, hey, are you okay?" I asked. As if he'd woken up from sleep, his eyes lit up like orbs.
"I'm good. Can...I go my own way for a while when we get there?" My face dropped.
"You don't want to check on Peter?" Quickly, he shook his head.
"No, no, I will. I just—I need some time to myself."
Then, I nodded as Leo neared the large hospital.

Forced to sit in the waiting room, I anticipated my next move. No one had said anything concerning Peter. We were reluctant to be there—unsure the seriousness of the situation. Just then, a doctor with slicked back hair entered the room.

"Are there any visitors of Peter Mayer?" I stood up as if Peter would walk through the doors any minute. The man approached me.
"Is he alright?" I blurted, stereotypical as all get out. He smiled humbly.
"Yes, he just entered surgery. My name is Dr. Nathaniel. We believe he only broke his leg. The x-rays showed that the bone was split in two so he'll be needing rest afterwards."
A wave of relief flushed over me. If it was any more serious I don't think I could've taken it.

"But, there are expenses to be dealt with. Who'll be paying?" Dr. Nathaniel asked.
"Me. I'll pay," I remarked not hesitating the least bit.
Leo stood up.
"You can't seriously be thinking this. He doesn't deserve the crap load of money you're gonna have to pay," Leo protested.
"He has no money to pay himself, and I doubt you'll be throwing anything on the table. I'm paying. Peter Pan is my best friend, Leo."

Declaring defeat, my boyfriend sat back down. I turned my attention back to the doctor.
"When can we see him?" He thought about it before answering.
"About 2 hours. We want make sure he'll do alright with the pain medicine." I nodded, trying to accept that explanation as assurance.
"Just tell us when we can see him. Please." He agreed and left back into the hall. I sat back down to find Chris vanished. I stared at his empty seat.

"Where did he go?" I asked. Leo merely shrugged.
"He left after Dr. Nathaniel said it'd take 2 hours." I looked around the room though I knew he wouldn't be there. An instinct screamed at me to follow him. Why had Chris seemed so anxious earlier? Why had he suddenly disappeared? Leo gave me a look that said "he'll be back soon."
I sat back down with him.
"You know he's been on that bad ankle forever. It was bound to happen eventually." He was right.

I shouldn't have made Peter do so many laps at the park. My eyes trailed back to Leo Blanchard.
"Go on back to work. I know you have things to get done."
Surprised, he shook his head.
"Peter may be a lousy loser but he's your friend. I still respect that. I'm gonna stay."
I smiled softly.

"Thank you. Hey, I'm going to try to find Chris." When I got up, Leo's arm caught onto me.
"Leave him be." I shrugged the arm off.
"I'm just going to see if anythings wrong with him." Before Leo could protest again, I moved into the hall.
At first, I had no clue where he was. So, I approached a desk with a middle-aged woman running it.
"Excuse me, ma'am," I began, "have you seen a tall boy with really dirty blonde hair come through here lately?" Fortunately, she nodded and pointed to the left hall.
Instinctively, I followed her directions.
There were several doors and it was hard to tell where he went at all. I returned to walking. Why would Chris need to visit anyone there?
Just as I was about to give up, a door left open caught my attention. It was the first one open in several rows. Gingerly, I peeked inside and saw Chris sitting on the bed in the middle. I watched as he kissed the little girl in the bed on the forehead.

"Chris?" I whispered. His wet eyes stared at mine.
"Darcy," My face turned red.
"I'm sorry. I was wondering where you went. I didn't know..." He stood up. At first, I was scared of getting hit from intruding. Instead, he ushered me inside. I slipped in.
"Is she your sister?" I asked, my eyes looming over her. The frail girl looked to be around eleven or ten years old. She had long, straight yellow perch-colored hair. Her skin was deathly white. Other than that, she looked alright.
"Yeah. Her name's Kay. She has epilepsy." My chest suddenly hurt. I didn't know if my pain was from pity or not. Looking at that girl though....

Kay was the image of an innocent—oblivious to the death swinging on her heart strings.
"I'm so sorry, " I managed to choke. I didn't even noticed Chris who's eyes were watering from looking at his sister. I didn't want to look at him. I didn't want to look at Kay or him or anyone. Somehow, looking at misery and death-to-come made me scared of Peter's fate. My eyes fell to the floor. Silently, Chris bent over, brushed strands of Kay's hair away and kissed her forehead. She slept soundly on. Before I had the chance to notice, Chris wiped away the forming tears.

"She wanted to be a fairy princess—the only fairy princess with epilepsy. Kay would've made a damn good fairy princess." He forced himself to emit some sort of laugh but it was as believable as People magazine.
Next to her bed, I noticed a wand lying on the table. It was purple, wrapped in ribbon, glitter, and rhinestones. That wand was beautiful in a way. The wand held courage, fierceness, and hope, and it was probably boughten from Walmart.
"Let's go," muttered Chris.
"I don't want to wake her up. I don't want Kay to see me like this." Chris went to the doorway and we left the beautiful fairy princess in her deathly gowns and hospital chambers.

The clock in the 24-hour hospital read 3:35 a.m. The receptionist had already asked me three times to go home. It was exhaustingly late and I could feel the sleep trickle inside my body like a waterfall. Yet, as a loyal member of Peter's lost boys, I was bound to stay and make sure he was alright. The surgery was already over. It took a while considering he woke up once in the middle of it all.

There was only twenty more minuets before we could see him again. Leo had even decided to stay with me through it all. His face was longer than usual, his eyes bloodshot from sleep prevention. His hair was falling in his face too.
"You're a good person for doing this. As much as an a** as he is, Peter would be glad you stayed." I glanced up at Leo, not looking much better than he.

"Yeah, well, I know he'd be shocked to hear it. He thinks you despise him." Leo sighed, anxiety controlling him.
"I don't hate Peter. I have to act like I do so he doesn't try anything with you."
My face turned a deep red, and I stuttered for words.
"He would not do that. Peter isn't some kind of pervert, Leo," I said all of it with a smile. He smirked back.
"He better not." Then, Leo kissed me and tucked an awkward strand of hair behind my ear. I hid my small smile and kept my mind focused on the ugly bird painting in the lobby.
