I woke up from a pretty good dream. Although I don't remember what happened, all I know is that it was pretty happy. The room was still dark but I always had light, thanks sun!
All the girls were gone. In the back of the room, a few feet away from the door was another bed. A faux bed made out of a few layers of foam things. Luna was still laying there.
I climbed off the bed and checked a clock that was on another roommate's bed. Why is it only six o'clock in the morning? I'm so early!
Next to the faux bed of Luna were mirrors and sinks. I went over to the mirror farthest of her; I didn't want to wake her up. As I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I immediately noticed all the small cuts on my face. How did I even get so many cuts here?
Luna was snoring. So I went over to her and lightly shook her awake.
" Luna, wake up," I whispered to her.
She grumbled and lightly pushed my hands away. " W-what time is it?" She mumbled. " Why did you wake me up?"
" It's 6:10, " I responded. " And the other girls are gone, do you know where they all might be?"
" Nariko, I've been asleep this whole time. And I don't recall anyone saying that we should wake up before 6."
She didn't look surprised at all. It's as if she knew that they wouldn't be here at all. Even thought she had said that she was sleep, who said that she hadn't woken up before and went back to sleep again?
I looked strangely at her but left her in the room. She got out of her bed and followed me outside. We looked out at the field and immediately saw everyone gathered around in a circle. I don't know what they were doing, but they were doing something.
It seems that they were just talking about something. But it's like past 6 o'clock in the morning! How was it possible that they couldn't feel the cold!
" What should we do?" I asked Luna who was staring at the group. She shrugged, " I don't know."
" Maybe we should go nearer," Luna suggested.
" But what if Tezia is out there? What if she's going to me?"
Luna shook her head and assured me: " You'll be fine, Nariko. You're not alone here."
" Thanks, Luna."
She smiled at me and slowly went ahead to the large group. I followed, but there still was a significant distance between us. Luna looked at her and saw me; she signaled that I should stop and wait. So I stayed in place and watched her go.
Luna wasn't even in close range with the group, but she has been seen!
He stood up from the circle and chased after Luna. She ran away from him! Although short for her age, Luna sure is fast. Thanks to her fast speed she got rid of Mark and took cover inside the main building.
In the circle, I saw that Olivia pointed to something.. Or someone. The others turned around, and they all started walking towards me. I didn't like where this was going.
" Luna!" I called out.
As if on cue, the doors opened and out came Luna! She ran towards the crowd of people! While I was backing away, I looked over my shoulder to see where I was going. But I tripped over a darn stone!
The people around me suddenly were surrounding me in a wink of an eye! Seriously though, when did they get around me?!
Not even a minute later Luna ran through the group, she took me by the hand and helped me up. " Don't worry," she whispered. " I'll lead us through them."
And she did. I followed her commands, dodging everyone who was trying to grab hold of us! Soon we made it to the dorms again! We went inside and locked the doors behind us.
Then we went to our room and also locked that door. In case the group manages to break open the front doors, they still wouldn't get to us just yet.
We soon heard the group coming up the stairs! They were banging on the door, trying to break it. They were failing, for now.
Luna ran to her backpack. " What happened to them? It's not like them to be like this!" I yelled, freaked out of this.
" They're possessed." Was the only thing Luna said while she was rummaging through her backpack, what was she trying to find?
" How do we get the bad spirits or forces or-whatever to leave their bodies?" I asked her.
" I might have the answer for that," she responded.
She brought out a book that had a large circle in the center. Inside the circle was the symbol of the triple goddess. Around the circle were lines that reached the end of the cover. It was a quite a simple design but I'm was at explaining- and still am.
Luna read through her book, and I went to my suitcase to find my notebook. It had notes inside that I wrote when I was not myself. Luna looked up and saw my journal.
" I found what they needed," she said.
Right after she said that the group had already broken the first set of doors! Someone soon had tried to open the door of our room! That person started banging on the door too! I heard their voice and knew who it was.
" Open up the door, sweet pea," the sweet voice said. " We need to get what we need and want ."
Luna put her book down and looked at me. I stared back at her, " W-what is it?"
" Give them your notebook," Luna whispered slowly.
" What?! Why?" I whispered back to her, disbelieving that I had to give up my precious notebook! " It has notes that only The Silent Seekers and I can understand!"
" I don't care!" Luna sighed in frustration. " You know what, I'll just give it to them."
Luna grabbed my notebook from my hands. " Luna! No!"
But it was already too late. Luna had unlocked the door and gave Olivia the notebook. Olivia looked inside the room and smiled directly at me.
" Thank you, sweetheart," she said. " We will find out what you have to say."
Olivia went out and the others quietly tailed behind her. I peeked through the window and saw the dark forces leave their bodies and brought the book with them. The bodies of my friends and counselors all laid there on the ground lifeless.
I turned around and looked at Luna with hurt and disbelieve.
" Why?" I asked. " Why would you do this to me?"
She stayed quiet for a few seconds before she answered. " Because you deserve better than this."
" What do you-"
"- And I wanted to live." Luna came towards me and started shaking me. " Don't you want to live too, Nariko?!"
I opened my eyes and saw that Meghan was shaking me. I blinked at her. " Good morning to you too, sleeping beauty!" Meghan giggled as she got down the bunk bed. I sat up and look around the room.
Olivia was there by the door. " What happened?" I asked her.
" You were talking and screaming in your sleep," Olivia said. " And you slept through almost the whole day."
" Oh," I responded. " I-I thought that was real."
I got out of bed while the other girls went out. I changed out of my pajamas and went outside. I was delighted that they woke me up before dinner time. On the stairs, I saw Luna and Maria talking to Mike and Max.
" Mahalkita," Luna said to the French guys. Both of them looked confused at her.
" What does that mean?" Mike asked. " I need to know."
" Why do you need to know?" Luna giggled at them. She loves it.
" Yeah guys," I said and joined the conversation. " You might not remember that word anyways."
" That's true," Luna agreed. But Mike and Max still held on and kept asking for the meaning of 'mahalkita.'
" Ask another Filipino person," Luna said with a cheeky smile. She then turned to me, " Are you hungry, Nariko?"
I nodded at her. She giggled, " You can go ahead. I'll join you soon."
" Alright," I said and went inside the main building. Pastor Hull and Mark were talking at one of the tables. Miss Katie was talking to Emma and Parfaite on another table. And I sat down on the couch waiting for dinner.
Luna soon came in and sat next to me. We talked for a few minutes until pastor noticed me.
He went over to me. " Hey there Nariko," Pastor Hull said. " How are you?"
" I'm fine," I responded.
" We were worried about you," he said.
" Oh.."
" I also was praying for you."
I nodded, I gave him too many dry answers. I felt sorry, but Pastor Hull bid his goodbye and went outside. Luna poked my arm, and I looked back at her.
" You know Nariko; you missed out on so much fun today! We-"
Luna told me what happened today and I was kind of jealous of her. So much fun stuff happened! It's like whenever I'm not there, remarkable things happened! But well, that's life.
The evening went by quickly, and several people had asked me if I was okay. I nodded each time at them.
At least tomorrow is a new day, and I can forget about what happened in that terrible dream.
