Ever since I could remember I have been homeschooled. This has caused me to not really have a social life. Most people know me as that one "freak" that doesn’t belong in the real world and thats why I don't. I live inside my head, and never to leave my house. My "sanctuary". It's not my fault that most witches can't look at me properly! They feel threatened by my existence, and we all know what people do when they feel threatened. Witches, princesses, trolls and human alike- they exterminate the threat.
Thats why I have been homeschooled my whole life. If only just 3 or 4 witches that turned on me, then sure, we would be able to deal with that easy. But if the whole universe turns against me then, well for one, I'm done for, and two, it might cause it to tear themselves apart.
After 15 years of learning from my mother and hiding in the shadows after my fathers' death, we have finally discovered a way to hide my disgraceful face. I can protect my mother and she can send me to a normal school. A mask- one which no one can see the ugliness beneath, and the horrors of my past.
I was sitting down at the dining table, poking my food with a fork thinking about these things. Then my Mother, Magna, came running down the stairs, holding a book. She tripped on the last step like always, and every time its still funny. I let out a small chuckle as she balances herself out. Then she locked eyes with me, there was a look in her eyes that made me feel like a deer in the path of a wolf, getting prepared to pounce then, "Clara".733Please respect copyright.PENANArJ7mUpOjD7
The tone of her voice caused me to give her my full attention as she held out the old, leather bound, dusty book.733Please respect copyright.PENANA3PoaK0q7Ma
My mother smiled, breathing heavy as if she just completed a 3 km run up heartbreak hill. 733Please respect copyright.PENANAcCiDR44pZs

My eyes widen as I jumped out of the chair and ran to my mother. I stopped just in front of her and stared down at the torn up book. This small old book can change my life, can make everything better. From walking to the shops to attending a school, without constantly having to use up my powers to hide, it's tiring.
I took the book just before my mother leaned against the stair rail and continued trying to catch her breath, She mumbled 733Please respect copyright.PENANAkcIcuWhJnV
"sorry I was in The Chamber"733Please respect copyright.PENANADElKMdxnVl
Of course, The Bavmorda Chamber, the room I am never allowed to enter. Its a right of passage for young witches in my family. Mother spends all her time in there so it is probably a pure mess. Dust and cobwebs hanging from the walls, and old ancient magic materials and books. When I was younger I would try to peek through the keyhole to see the wonders of her world. The world I will soon enter. On the outside, our house looks like a nice little cottage with smoke running out of the chimney, but actually on the inside there are 6 floors, and of course on top of all that is the Chamber, so she just came running down all those stares, guaranteed to trip on at least three, before she reached my current position on the bottom floor.
My mother used to be the most famous witch in the universe. She made cities tremble by the mention of her name, she has slain many kings, and became queen of the dragons. Her downfall happened when she was fighting her nemesis. On the ground floor of his beloved Princess' tower. When the final battle began she tripped over the uneven tiles and knocked herself out. The hero saved his princess and my mother was shunned from the witching community after she escaped imprisonment.
I look down at the book, as my mother walks up to me and flips the pages until she landed on one specific page. At the top of the water stained page, big cursive letters spelt out the word 'Abscondam'. This was the spell. I could feel tears brimming in my eyes as I scanned the page.
The mask was a powerful spell, it is sort of like a glamor, acting as something to hide the truth. This mask is a more or less permanent spell, it goes over your face, and completely changes it. It could make a small nose look long, brown eyes look blue, and in my case, makes a beautiful princess face, change into a more natural witch face. I could finally fit in.
I look at the ingredients list. These are all simple stuff, stuff that we have in our kitchen. I looked at my mother, a smile playing on my lips. She smiled back, and took the book, she firmly said733Please respect copyright.PENANAftyrHSMWAF

I moved back to my seat and leaned against it, too excited for what was to come to stay still. I tapped my foot as my Mother whizzed around the kitchen, gathering ingredients and taking measurements.
It didn't take her too long to return to the table with a couple of bowls filled with a lot of different stuff. One of the bowls were filled with honey, the other was a white power that I could only guess was flour. There were other ingredients too, like the raw skin of a chicken, rose petals and fairy dust- you know the simple stuff.
My Mother threw all the ingredients into a bowl and started smashing and mixing the ingredients together with a steel spoon. What was left was a brown looking paste. She threw a cotton cloth over the top and placed an ice spell over it and sat down across from me with a sigh.733Please respect copyright.PENANAzInxqj0h9r
"The paste needs to rise, and you also need to go to sleep with it on too, so may as well wait a couple hours till nightfall. "
I was a bit sad when she said that, I have waited 12 years for this spell and I didn't feel like waiting any longer.
As I was waiting I decided to complete some of my weekly chores. I took all the rugs that looked dirty out of the house and beat them with a broom. Causing dust, dirt and anything else sticking to the rugs to fly out. I sneezed, a lot. I think mother may have dropped the pepper again. The whole time I was humming to a tune I remember hearing my mother sing when I was younger, a lullaby I think. Or a curse.
I replaced the rugs then went out to the gryphon stables, I didn't have to get close to know they needed mucking out, just one sniff caused me to return to the house to find a peg.
I returned to the stables with a pink peg pinching my nose to block the smell of gryphon manure out of my innocent nose. I walked up and looked at the Gryphons, They were restless to get out of the stables, so I went walking down un-doing all of the rusted locks and let the furry creatures out into the luscious green paddock. Some stretched and danced while others took to the sky. I watched them go, knowing they will be come once I call them. They always do.
I took one look at the stables and moaned in frustration. Those greedy, messy gryphons. I walked over and grabbed the wheelbarrow and gloves. I stood outside the stables, the wheelbarrow next to me. I raised my arms and muttered a few ancient words. I looked at the stables with one thought on my mind- did I do it right? Just as I finished the thought, the hay started to rise and my question was answered. Yes.
I focused and slowly, moved the dirty hay over to the wheelbarrow. Carefully stacking the hay layer by layer, until the stables were completely empty and the wheelbarrow was full. I smiled at myself, I was getting better at this.
I used some of my power to manipulate the water and give the stables a flush out, before laying the clean hay down. I smiled at my good work. I turned and let out a loud whistle, causing all the gryphons to waltz happily back into their clean stables. I locked the doors and smiled again at my good work.
I looked at the sun, I spent longer than I thought out here and art was setting. It was almost time to put my mask on.733Please respect copyright.PENANAkz8CJngJHX
