A few days later, me, my parents and Roscoe headed out to the airport so we can take a plane to Hawaii. Roscoe's mom gave him the okay for him to go to Hawaii and stay for the whole summer with me. This will be the first summer vacation trip that me and Roscoe are taking together so I want to snap as many pictures as I can and make as many memories on this trip.
Roscoe eventually came by my house and we all set out to the airport. Throughout the car ride, I was buzzing with high energy. I was so nervous about this trip when I woke up this morning that I couldn't eat breakfast. I glanced over at Roscoe to see how he's doing and quickly smirked as I saw how calm he is. He's a pretty laid back guy that doesn't get nervous like me, but when he does, he's good at hiding it.
When we got there, we quickly checked in our bags then we set our luggage on the conveyor belt and started making our way over to the boarding area where we will be boarding our plane at. I sat down in an empty seat and Roscoe sat down next to me then I started to gently rub my stomach and heard it growling.
"I'm sooo hungry..."
"You should've ate before we left, sweetie." My mom said.
"Ricky was too excited about being ready to go that he skipped out on breakfast." My dad told Roscoe.
Roscoe chuckled then he ruffled my hair. "I get it."
I pouted then shrugged him off. "No you don't. You eat even when you're nervous."
Roscoe rolled his eyes and sighed with a smile before standing up.
"Why don't you two go look for something to eat? We'll wait right here for our number to be called." My mom said then she gave me and Roscoe some money.
I smiled brightly then nodded and stood up also.
"Let's go!" I said then started fast walking down the airport.
"Ricky! Wait for me!" Roscoe called out then he ran after me.
I giggled then came to a complete stop and turned to look at him. Roscoe walked up to me then he held his hand out.
"Give me your hand." He said.
I gave my hand to Roscoe without any thoughts then he started walking over to the restaurant part of the airport and I followed after him, our hands intertwined.
"What are you in the mood for?" Roscoe asked eventually.
I shrugged as I looked around the airport restaurants, not sure what I wanted. There were so many fast food places that it was hard to decide what I wanted more. Did I want a cheeseburger and fries? Or a Philly cheese steak with chips? The possibilities are endless. Eventually I sighed out of frustration then I turned to Roscoe to see what he's going to have.
"What are you gonna get?" I asked.
Roscoe shrugged. "Mmm. Maybe a steak sandwich and chips."
I smiled then nodded. "Alright. I'll get the same." I said.
The both of us walked over to Subway and we ordered two Philly cheese steak sandwiches with chips and soda. Once we placed our order, we stood off to the side to wait for our order to be called. As we were waiting, I noticed that a little boy was staring at me. I smiled then bent over and waved at him.
"Hey. How are you?" I asked, trying to be friendly.
The boy looked at his mom and pulled on her jacket.
"Yes, sweetie?" His mom said.
"Mommy, why are those two boys holding hands?" The little boy asked, pointing to me and Roscoe.
I watched as the mom looked over at us then she looked at her son.
"Don't look at them, sweetie. They're just confused about their feelings." She said.
I slowly stood back up, feeling weird all of a sudden.
Confused about our feelings? Does she mean that we're confused about being gay?
Both me and Roscoe are openly gay and even though we're not dating, we don't mind flaunting our relationship in front of people because we have nothing to hide. We don't get bullied at school and to be honest, people at school likes us. They think we're cute and funny. Well, most of the girls in school think we're cute and funny. The guys, however, like Roscoe because he's good at video games and he's heavily into music. So really, I never really experienced being judged because of who I am before. That's why the situation with the mom made me feel weird.
I must've looked uncomfortable to Roscoe because he then looked at me and spoke up.
"Don't worry about her. There's plenty more of people like her out there. All you can do is just ignore them and keep it moving." He said.
I looked over at Roscoe to see him smiling. I smiled back then nodded.
"You're right. I just felt a little weird is all..."
Roscoe nodded then he squeezed my hand a little bit, reassuring me.
"Even if the whole world turns against us, at least we'll still have each other. Remember that okay?" He whispered into my ear.
I nodded. "Alright."
Finally, our food has been called and we grabbed it before heading back over to where my parents are. When we reached our area, me and Roscoe sat down then started to chow down on our food. Now that my hunger has officially set in, I felt beyond hunger and wouldn't stop eating till I ate every bite of my food. I patted my belly then relaxed in my chair.
"I feel better now~" I said.
Roscoe chucked next to me as he took a sip of his drink. Now all we have to do right now is wait to be called so we can board the plane.
