"tardo pomeriggio" is an Italian word that means: sunset.
KICK ASS 3
Capítulo 05: Tardo Pomeriggio
The activity was intense at the airport in Rome, people came and went due to the rush and with a worrying gesture on their faces, the loud speakers of the airport announced in different languages the arrivals and departures of the flights and their respective boarding gates, in short, an atmosphere that was not at all calm, in fact intimidating, especially for people who were entering an international airport for the first time, such as children.
However, a group of girls were walking along the main corridor of the airport, who were not intimidated by the noise and movement of the place. Some looked happy, but others looked like the faces of few friends.
“This is ridiculous," complained Claes, looking at her clothes and those of the other girls, "in the end, we dressed in costumes that make us look like a group of three pairs of twin sisters.”
“Come on, Claes, cheer up," said Angelica with a smile.
“And you have to hold my hand?” Claes asked her "twin" in a scowling voice. Angelica made a sad face.
“Please, Claes," said Rico, who was holding Henrietta's hand, "we're supposed to go hand in hand as little girls, and don't make Angelica sad.”
“Going hand in hand with each of our "twins," Triela said this time, with a face of few friends, as she watched Mindy, who apparently was not happy about the situation either.
“I think it's funny," said Henrietta, "it's like we're playing.”
"I don't like to play house or anything like that," Mindy thought of saying and letting go of Triela's hand, but seeing how Angelo looked at her, she decided to shut up, after all, Henrietta was recovering from José's loss.
“You're a good girl, Mindy," whispered Fun Angelo.
“I'm only doing it for Henrietta," said Mindy, but of course she had to admit that she was also doing it so as not to upset Angelo, from whom she was beginning to feel something.
Closing the group's march was a fat man dressed in an imitation branded suit. His hair was very frizzy, almost afro and he had a face that could pass for that of an Asian, his physiognomy in general looked like that of a chubby little good-natured man, who carried the girls' luggage.
“Vito," said Angelo, "are you sure you don't want help?”
“No, Master D'Amico, I feel fine," said the man with a smile on his face.
“Enough of the "master", Vito," said Angelo with a sigh of frustration, "just tell me Angelo.
“Yes, Master D'Amico, uh, no Master D'Amico, this... yes Master Angelo.”
Angelo sighed another sigh of frustration and the girls stifled a laugh.
“Where'd you get this guy?” Mindy asked him.
“Vito worked for my father, but he drank a lot, that and the bad habit of talking too much, especially when he was drunk, caused my father to order him to be killed. Of course, when I found out, I advocated for him and my father spared his life. Now he works for me on my father's orders, he's like some kind of assistant.”
“Do you trust him?”
“Yes, Vito would give his life for me. As you and the girls are still underage, you need to go with an adult, don't worry Vito is reliable.”
In the end, the group arrived at the section where they had to check the girls' bags and after the check, they went to sit on the benches in front of the offices of the airline that would take them to Japan.
“Are you sure you can't come with us?” Angélica asked, She had tears coming out of her eyes.
“I'm sorry Angelica, but to prepare for your trip to Japan without the Social Happiness Agency knowing about it was very complicated and I had to ask my father for many favors. Now I can't separate myself from him.”
“We're very sorry," apologized Triela on behalf of all the girls, "we know you didn't want to get involved with your father and his business anymore, now you have no choice because of us.”
“Don't worry girls," Angelo reassured them with a gentle smile, "it's not that serious, I think I'm going to be what's known as a'rebellious boy' from now on... Well, even more so. In the end, my father will get fed up with me and give me my freedom, when that hap”pens I promise to visit you in Japan.”
I'll wait for you.... uh, I mean, we'll all wait for you," corrected Angelica wiping away her tears.
Angelo approached Angélica and kissed her fatherly on the forehead, making her open her eyes wide.
“I take your word," said Angelo, winking at them, "don't even think about getting married or having a boyfriend before I arrive, I'm a jealous man.”
The SHA girls blushed and gave him a shy smile back.
“Isn't a jealous Italian a Hollywood cliché?” Mindy said with an aggressive smile.
“...Take care of yourself Mindy... and take care of the girls.”
"Vito, I want you to take care of Mindy and the other girls," asked Angelo, as he put one hand on his shoulder and smiled broadly at him.
“Yes, Master D'Amico, don't worry, I'll take care of the ladies with my life," answered the man decisively, but then he blushed and shyly looked at the girls.
Angelo breathed a sigh of frustration and when he was about to answer him, the airport loudspeakers announced that the girls' flight would be delayed for a couple of hours.
Although he was initially displeased, Angelo was later happy because he could spend more time with the girls, unfortunately his cell phone rang. It was Ralph D'Amico, his father, who required his presence.
Angelo bowed with one knee to the ground in front of the semicircle of girls in front of him and kissed each of the girls' hands. With this Angelo said goodbye to the girls and left the place in an elegant way.
The young D'Amico did not go to the airport parking lot to return in his luxurious 4x4 instead, he went to the taxi rank as he considered that it would not be wise to drive through the crowded streets of Rome with his brain at the time oblivious to road rules and pedestrian safety.
“...Mindy.”
Mindy Macready stared at the station's bulletin board with a taut look as she bit her lip in a clear sign of concern.
“Is something wrong, Mindy?” Henrietta asked her shyly.
“No, there's nothing wrong with me, I was looking at the bulletin board.”
The airport bulletin board displayed the list of delayed flights for the next few hours. It showed the same information for several minutes without changing an iota. Henrietta looked at her strange friend.
“You're anxious and you want to go after Angelo, right, Mindy?”
“WHAT! No, I'm not, not at all, don't fuck around," said Mindy, who rushed to lower her voice.
“You're also worried because you want to eliminate Ralph D'Amico, who is Angelo's father and that's why you're in such a mess.”
“But how am I going to reconcile my feelings for Angelo with my mission to finish off his father?”
“You're a superheroine, right? I'm sure you'll make it all work out," Triela replied this time.
Mindy had never hugged a girl before, but at that moment she hugged Triela as if she had been her lifelong sister.
“Miss Macready, Miss Macready!” Vito shouted at her as he watched Mindy leave the airport. The man wanted to go out after her, but Angelica with tears in her eyes held him by the cuff of his sleeve.
“Goodbye, Angelo," cried Angélica, while Claes, who put on her glasses, held her other hand to comfort her.
.
.
In the afternoon, the sun set on the horizon bathed all the surroundings with an orange colouring, giving the D'Amico mansion a majestic appearance to the already majestic structure.
Leaving the mansion, a young man with a sad face walked crestfallen to a small grove attached to the outer walls of the mansion that was his home.
In a small clearing in the grove, there was a roundabout where he decided to sit and watch the star king disappear into the waters of the Mediterranean, a view worthy of the best of postcards, but which did not enliven the heart of the boy.
“Girls, you must be on their way to Japan by now," said the young man in an audible whisper, taking a deep, deep breath.
“I knew you only wanted a harem de lolis, you perverted fucking lolicon," Mindy suddenly said behind the boy's back, although this time her words were not accompanied by an aggressive smile, but rather a shy smile and a nervous look.
The Mediterranean wind blew at that moment, shaking the canopies of the trees, as well as Angelo's hair and Mindy's golden pigtails.
Just like when she had a date in North America with the asshole who left her abandoned in the woods, Mindy walked awkwardly with her arms stiff at her sides as she bent her back and put on a scared little animal face. A ridiculous and pathetic look, but in Angelo's eyes, Mindy Macready was sliding towards him in an ethereal and elegant way, with such a grace that no ballet dancer would ever be able to match... and what a beautiful face! And that smile more peaceful and full of confidence.
Mindy sat in front of Angelo and watched the young man nervously as her lips opened and closed without a word.
“I just realized," Angelo said nervously, "your blue eyes are the same as the waters of the mare nostrum, and your beauty is the same as Venus.”
Mindy was very flushed and all she could do was laugh hysterically.
“Mindy, I know this is all very complicated," Angelo said as he bent down and put one knee on the floor while holding the girl's hands with feverish force, "your hatred of my family and my father who also wishes you dead... but please don't hate me for being a D'Amico.”
“Angelo, I would never hate you," said Mindy and noticed how her face was relaxing, as was her entire body, which was sore, especially in her joints because of the tension before.
Mindy let go of Angelo's hands, and with her hands free she held her friend's face. The characteristic feature of the D'Amicos was obvious, Angelo was no catwalk model, but he also didn't have the horrible cliché face of what was supposed to be a mobster.
“I won't lie to you, Angelo, I'm very afraid of all this, I don't know what to do about your father.”
“Please Mindy, if there's a chance to make my father pay for his crimes without having to kill him, I'm asking you to take it.”
“...So, I think I will settle in Rome and disrupt your father's business, just as I did in New York.”
“Since I'm with my father now, I'll always put you one step ahead of him. So you'll always be safe, somehow we'll make this all work.”
The two teenagers hugged each other and fixed their eyes on the ocean that was now tinged with purple, as if to imitate the color of the Hit Girl costume, a premonition of the future adventures and romance that would await the two teenagers in the eternal city.
