The following is the result of many hours of questioning with Carlos. For several days and nights, we methodically reviewed what happened next. He had a great deal of difficulty in conveying this information because of what he had endured. To the best of Carlos's recollection, this is the way he says things happened.178Please respect copyright.PENANALIDq0BpB8A

Carlos knew he was being watched, but he was not sure if it was something inside the building spying on him, or if it was the structure itself watching and waiting for him to come in. He was wide awake now. He rubbed his eyes with the palms of his hands and then gripped the Coke bottle that was filled to the top with Holy Water. He climbed out of the car, made his way across the parking lot, opened the front doors of the resort, and stepped into the long mirrored hallway. He stared straight ahead at the double swinging doors that led into the main ballroom and waited for something to happen, but nothing did. "Back off, you fuckin' spooks! I'm armed and dangerous, and I ain't afraid to use it. I've got Holy Water, and I know how to use it!" Carlos declared, his voice trembling with a mixture of fear and determination.
Almost convincing himself that everything was okay, he ambled up the hall looking at his reflection in the mirrors as he went. He pushed through one of the swinging doors and stepped into the main ballroom, looking in all directions for some evil presence to appear before him, but to his surprise the only sound in the room was that of his heart beating.
He moved past the open bar to his left and made his way up onto the stage. He started across the platform, heading for the backroom area when something caught his attention. He wheeled around on the balls of his feet, searching the huge dance floor with his eyes. There was nobody there. But if that was the case, what made the thumping sound that caused him to stop and turn around? He strained his eyes harder, squinting through the semi-darkness of the room, and just when he was beginning to think he was all alone.....he saw it! His face distorted into a look of agony, and he felt a wave of darkness wash over him as he stared at the creature.
There he was again, the same repulsive beast that he had seen in the tunnel, the same malignant entity that he had seen standing inside the fog only moments ago.
As the demon stood at the edge of the dance floor in front of the first row of tables, smoke billowed up all around it, swirling and dancing, rising and vanishing into the darkness.
Carlos stood there in awe staring at the beast as it raised a bony, elongated finger and pointed it at him. Its yellow-stained fangs hung down from its upper jaw as a pool of slobber drooled out of his mouth.
Carlos found himself unable to move. His eyes locked on the demon's red, glowing orbs, and he knew he was being hypnotized, but there was nothing he could do to help himself. He could feel his will being drained away and replaced with something else---something evil.
The room became instantly cold. A freezing wind congealed and twirled through the room like a huge spinning top, knocking over tables and chairs.
This can't be happening, his brain shrieked. This isn't real! But he knew it was. He tried desperately to run, to move his feet, if only an inch, but something he couldn't fight was holding him at attention, taking control of his body. He felt himself changing, his skin splitting open, his muscles rippling up and down his arms and legs in giant waves, and an overwhelming pressure inside his head.178Please respect copyright.PENANAMGxqs6Ve2W
The demon moved closer to the stage, and, as it did so, Carlos saw his reflection in the monster's blaring eyes. He saw what looked like icicles forming on his face, hanging from his eyelids, and then his own eyes began to change color. The freezing wind was now enveloping him, and he suddenly became aware of the fact that some presence had entered his body. His eyes now glowed red and he felt his thoughts changing. He heard the voices inside his head, hundreds of them, chanting "Glory to Satan!" He knew he was being possessed by a demon, becoming one of them, now. It had already taken possession of his body and it would not be long before it would have his mind and soul.
As his thoughts became more jumbled and he felt he would black out, he noticed something strange. He was staring down into the demon's eyes and he suddenly realized that he was floating some five or six feet in the air above the stage.
If things weren't bad enough, the unplugged jukebox suddenly came on and began playing Dolly Parton songs at slow speed, warping the singer's voice out of all proportion. The ballroom became filled with hundreds of demons in human form. They were laughing and mocking Carlos, enticing them to join them.
"Praise Satan! Master of the abyss, I am at your command!" They snapped their arms up in a rigid salute, their fists clenched tightly against their chests in a manner reminiscent of the Nazi salute, pledging their allegiance to their dreaded master with unwavering fervor. Carlos found himself doing the same thing, in unison with the legion of demons.
Still staring into the demon's eyes, looking at his reflection, he saw that his facial expressions were slowly changing from fear to an eerie contentment. An evil smile crossed his lips, and, as he began slowly descending to the stage floor, the bottle of Holy Water began to bubble up and become hot, searing the veins in his hand and arm.
"Cast aside that sanctified water, you disgusting piece of shit!" the Light Bearer sneered as he pointed his bony finger at his latest recruit, then at the outside door that suddenly flew open.178Please respect copyright.PENANAoFKCvgsdP7
Carlos jumped from the stage and quickly ran to the door, throwing the bottle of Holy Water across the railroad tracks and into the woods just as the lid exploded off the top of the container. As the door slammed shut, he stepped back and broke into a lunatic laugh. He was now one of them. It was time to entertain his guests. After all, he lived here in the upstairs apartment, and that made him the host. It would be rude of him not to show his new master and friends a good time.178Please respect copyright.PENANAM54a9kIxpJ
