A week passed by without any interference from the netherworld. Everything at the resort seemed perfectly normal, and Carlos began to doubt whether or not Vince really would carry out his retaliation threats. He hadn't experienced any loss of time, as before, but most of all, he felt at peace. Something that he hadn't felt in a long time!
About eight o'clock on that Thursday evening, Reverend Stone and Mikal Watts drove north on Route 59, heading for Buck Cassidy's resort. They were going to pay Carlos a surprise visit.
The minister had called earlier that day, and asked to meet Mikal at his office at around seven that evening. While the two men drove toward the bar, Mikal told Ezekiel that he had informed Buck that his nightclub was indeed, haunted. Ezekiel asked Mikal what Buck had to say about the matter and wasn't a bit surprised when Mikal told him that Buck didn't believe a word of it.
Reaching the resort, Mikal parked his gray and white Chevy Van in the south parking lot. The men stepped from the vehicle and walked over to the front doors, and as they did, Carlos came walking out of the building, greeting them with a warm smile.
He invited the men inside and led them into the main ballroom where they sat around talking about everything, but what they were there for.
After about fifteen minutes of ordinary chitchat, Pastor Stone suddenly changed the topic of conversation. "Are the spirits still here, Carlos?" Pastor Stone blurted out the question.
As Pastor Stone's question hung in the air, the most astonishing transformation of all occurred. Carlos suddenly morphed into the form of an incredibly attractive young woman, appearing to be in her early twenties or thereabouts. She possessed a mane of blond hair and icy blue eyes, yet her attire and hairstyle differed from some of the kids in that she wore a vintage 1977 businesswoman's outfit. Observing this, Stone assumed this must have been one of the teachers. With a menacing, demonic tone, the entity declared to him, "All the spirits are still here."
Unladylike rage and anger contorted the blond spirit's face in response to Stone's question about the spirits. Carlos, still in the form of the blond woman, turned away from the minister and strode from the bar to the far wall, pressing his/her forehead against the Arcade's wall. Mumbling obscenities under his/her breath, Carlos exhibited signs of inner turmoil, perhaps overwhelmed by the unearthly transformation.
"You know you have to leave!" Pastor Stone exclaimed to the spirit as he walked over to Carlos.
Mikal quickly turned on the video camera that he had brought along, just in case something had happened, but he was taken aback when it wouldn't work. He had checked it thoroughly before meeting Ezekiel tonight. It worked fine then. He became aware of the fact that some force wasn't going to allow him to film anything in here tonight. Especially the confrontation between the spirits and Pastor Stone. Just the thought of it scared the hell out of Mikal.
"We been here 'fore y'all showed up, ya hear!"As Carlos spun around to face the holy man, another astonishing transformation overtook him. This time, he took on the appearance of a youth with a distinct right-wing vibe. His clothing echoed the sentiments of a bygone era, reminiscent of Robert E. Lee and the Confederate South. Adorned in a gray Confederate kepi and attire befitting a soldier, the transformation was both striking and eerie. "We kin cause all sorts of trouble 'round here! Fires, floods, even them sinkholes! Y'all think this wetback y'all tryna save is worth all them lives it's gonna cost us to git out? Huh?"
"Young man, Jesus Christ died for the sins of all men, regardless of their skin color. Every life has value in His eyes."
Pastor Stone knew from the wretched expression on the country bumpkin spirit's face that he had scared the spirits this time. He felt the fear radiating from Carlos's hijacked body, but a voice inside Ezekiel's mind told him not to push it tonight. He decided to ease out of this confrontation and let the spirits have some time to chew on the thought that he'd be back. The minister also knew that, when he did return, all hell would break loose. It wouldn't be so easy next time.
"I'm going to leave now," he told the spirit. "But I'm coming back to see Carlos again!"
With those words, the entity hid itself inside Carlos's body and allowed the man to regain his natural form again. As Carlos became conscious as to where he was, he looked at Ezekiel with a sick and worried look.
"Look, Ezekiel, I tried, okay?" he blurted out in a pleading tone, his eyes showing tremendous concern. "But they're freakin' powerful! And dumb as rocks when it comes to fearin' God. Please, don't give me no hellfire sermon, alright? I can't take it!"
Carlos paused and took a deep breath. He gripped his stomach with both hands as if he were going to upchuck.
"I understand, son," the minister replied. "It's not just your fault; it's mine too. But we have to make those spirits leave this building. They don't possess buildings; they possess people! We're leaving for tonight, but we'll be back. You need to get plenty of rest and pray constantly until then. Ask God for deliverance. Stick to bread and water, and not much of that. You have to fast to drive those demons out of you."
"Will do," Carlos agreed as he looked around the room with frightened eyes, still clutching his stomach.
"I'll call you before we return," the minister told Carlos, knowing the spirits were listening, too. He knew exactly when he intended to return to this place, but he wasn't telling anyone, not even Mikal. Ezekiel figured he'd give the spirits some time to worry about the upcoming confrontation.
He'd simply call Mikal, and meet him at his office when the time was at hand. When they returned to the resort again, it would be to wage a Holy War against the dark forces of evil that walked this building and possessed Carlos Gutierrez's body at will!218Please respect copyright.PENANADpwprAb1PH
Reverend Stone and Mikal Watts bid Carlos good night and left the resort. As Carlos stood inside the ballroom, all alone, he suddenly became aware that the crotch of his pants was soaking wet.
"My God!" he stammered as he undid his belt and pulled his pants down below his knees. "It's blood, man!" he shrieked. His white jockey shorts were completely soaked in blood, and it was still oozing out of his body through his rectum. Carlos jerked up his pants, ran over to the light switches, and quickly turned them on. He raced into the ladies' restroom and positioned his back near the mirrors that lined the walls inside the pink cubicle. He dropped his pants to his ankles and bent over, looking at his shoulder.218Please respect copyright.PENANARWlX5LCJIO
"Nooooo!" he groaned in a long, slow whisper as his eyes fixed on the large, red, pus-filled sores that were clinging in and around his rectum. 218Please respect copyright.PENANALAm9LwMigG
It was not just ordinary hemorrhoids. These were tremendous in size, growing and spreading like poison ivy, and hurting like hell! They had appeared from out of nowhere, and Carlos knew this was his punishment for seeking help. "I'm sorry!" he screamed at the top of his lungs.
As Carlos hastily pulled up his pants, the ethereal figure of the beautiful female spirit materialized before him, eyeing him up and down. "I've spoken to my brothers and sisters," she began, her voice carrying an air of authority. "We've decided to give you something Mr. Schmidt never gave a student who faced him in his office: a second chance." She warned him sharply, "Don't let that priest come back again." As Carlos stared in astonishment, she asked, "How does it feel to meet a teacher who sided with her students?" Then, with a subtle flicker, she vanished, leaving Carlos all alone again.
Carlos fled upstairs, crying out in pain, and promising, over and over, that he would not let the minister return if the entities would just let him live. He made his way into the bathroom and quickly filled the tub with scalding water, ripping off his clothes, and blistering his skin when he threw himself into the hot liquid. He prayed that the scalding water would stop the swelling and bleeding before it was too late.218Please respect copyright.PENANAQKgdIbgmwt
