Chapter Four-Jade668Please respect copyright.PENANAqosBgrmuzm
I wasted no time. The minute that Memphis was out of site, I run forward grabbing one of the papers he had left on the table and wedged my foot in-between the door and the frame before it closed. I then quickly flooded the paper five times and placed it in-between the door and frame at the bottom I then removed my foot and let it swing shut, except that it wasn’t shut the paper was stopping the door from fully closing and stopping whatever automatic lock system that was in place from working. So long no one really studied the door it would appear shut. I walked back to my seat and sat down. I had to think I had made it so i could leave whenever I wanted but just running out would likely end me up in a bad place I had to plan. I knew I had got lucky with the door the guy was obviously confused by something I had or hadn’t said and had let his guard down otherwise I was sure he would have made sure the door closed before walking away. But it didn’t matter an opportunity was an opportunity. I tried to process the information I had gathered. From the questions he had asked I could tell that he thought I was more than an innocent bystander so he saw me as a threat. I had also learned that I had somehow managed to kill five people, I felt a pit form in my stomach at the thought and I wanted to curl up into a ball and just cry, but right now I had to focus. He had mention that two of the people I had killed has being Memphis members so I had killed two of his own. I could only think of one way they he would what to deal with that problem. He was probably gonna kill me it made sense an eye for an eye and all that and I had read about street gangs there weren’t known for their mercy or kindness to civilians.668Please respect copyright.PENANAUot6w8BcuM
I thought about the way he had acted when he was in the room with me, he hadn’t seemed anger at me other than when he mention the killings, if anything he had seem interested in me like I was some sort of fascinating artefact, he had defiantly seen me as a source of entertainment.
It didn’t matter what he had thought of me, I had to get out of here and on my own terms not his. I got up and walked towards the glass wall and looked out I could see down a short corridor, there were three other rooms like the one I was in I could see that there wasn’t anyone in the two rooms opposite me but I couldn’t see into the room next to me. There wasn’t any guards as far as I could tell, I guess they had a lot of trust in there automatic lock system. I could hear some noise through the crack in the door, it was a conversation but I couldn’t hear any words, I leaned in trying to hear better suddenly the noise increased people were shouting but I still couldn’t hear anything, then “SHUT UP!. EVEYONE THAT’S NOT A COMMANDER GO HOME NOW!” I could tell it was that Memphis dude, I sighed he obviously had a short fuse. Now I heard a cascade of footsteps heading towards me I looked out into the corridor, I saw a group of about ten kids walk past the corridor, they were obviously listening to the order they had being given. Most of them looked down the corridor as they walked past, some with anger on their faces. I watched them go, the last was about to go past but then he stopped and looked down the corridor he then started to walk down it, he passed the door to the room next to me so I knew that he was defiantly coming for me.
I turned and quickly ran back to my seat. “Shit, shit, shit” if he tried the door I would be fucked. I tried to look as innocent as possible as the boy walked in-front of my room stopped and starred though the glass wall. I quickly check his wrist he didn’t have a bracelet so hopefully he wouldn’t try the door. I looked up at him. He was a tiny guy mixed raced and he hair was closely shaven he had a broad nose and a mouth that seemed made to frown. He was glaring at me there was nothing but rage in his face, it was pure hatred. I felt like he wanted nothing more than then to come though that glass and strangle me, I looked into his eyes but quickly looked away, they hurt to look at. After that the boy began to walk away back the way he had come I got up and watched him go through the glass. Then it hit me that boy was probably heading towards the way out. I made I snap decision. I watched till the boy turned the corner then I dashed out the door, I run down the corridor keeping close to the wall and being as quiet as I could, when I reach the end of the corridor I peeked round the corner where the boy had gone. I was just quick enough to catch him turn down another corridor. I followed, trying to remember the turns. Eventually we reached a thick metal door with a keypad next to it. I peaked round the corner and watched the boy press some numbers in the keypad but it was too far for me to see what numbers he pressed. I was gonna have to make a run for it when he opened the door. I watched as the boy pulled the door open letting in a breeze of cold night air then walked out into the night. I started to run hurtling down the corridor I didn’t care who heard me so long as I got to the door, I was nearly there, I reach out for the handle and grabbed it I pulled hard, the door didn’t budge. I had missed it. “SHIT” I cursed. I stood there for a long time trying to pull the image of the boy’s had over the keypad to the front of my head, to see if I could remember the numbers he had pressed, where his finger had gone. Suddenly the light went red and I notice a small metal shutter come over the keypad. “Shit, shit, shit” I cursed as I run back down the corridor looking for a place to hide I turned left away from the direction I had come looking for anything that could become a safe haven. They must has realised I was missing. I saw a door that didn’t appear to have a lock on it, I put my ear to the door listening for noise from the inside…nothing.
I dashed in, it was some sort of filing room except there were no files just empty cupboards. I noticed a ladder propped up against one of the cupboards. I grabbed it and leaned it against one of the cupboards with a top section I climbed up and squeezed in I turned around and paused the ladder so it fell in a way that wouldn’t show them where I had hidden. I closed the cupboard door enclosing me in darkness. I waited ten, fifteen, twenty minutes then I heard him.
“We know you’re in here, sorry but we know these tunnels better then you do”
I felt fear well up inside me, was he going to kill me. I sighed what could I do at least I had gone out fighting. I pushed the cupboard door open below me stood the boy who had hit me over the head in the alley. He picked up the ladder and leaned the ladder against the cupboard
“Come down” he said. I listened
“This way” he pointed me toward the door. I walked out and he guided me back the way I had come towards the cell “don’t run, I’ll just shoot you in the leg, I’m not in the mood for running after you” I believed him.
When we reach the room I could see that Memphis was sitting in the chair in-front of the table a nerdy white guy was standing over him talking to him. In the corner was a Puerto Rican looking girl in khaki bottoms and a tank top. She was scowling at the Memphis dude I could tell that something had seriously ticked her off, I had a feeling it was something to do with me. Everyone looked up when I walked in. The guy leading me opened the door and guided me the seat on the other side of the table. I squashed the fear in my stomach, this was not the moment to be scared. I looked the boy opposite me straight in the face668Please respect copyright.PENANA31Fa2hZ4NJ
