I don't even know why I bother anymore. I've been trying now for 30 years to bring Metromni into my grasp so I could manage it all. It's a failing capitalistic system crippled by poor infrastructure and too many people doing whatever they want. It just needs a little order, a little push in the right direction, but why are they so resistant to the idea? Omniman has been there literally every time to stop me from doing my work. Heck, one day I politely walked into town hall, took a number and waited and he still pummeled me. I found myself in the dumpster outside, in the dead of night. I had been out for several hours. That's assault, and with him being the law enforcement of Metromni, that'd make him someone literally abusing their power. This is not fair to me, and not fair to the town. So much poverty, so many dirty, sad faces on the streets.
I remember arriving in Metro City back in 1973. It was a fair little metropolis, nothing super fantastic, and Omni Corp and their Omniman project forced the town too far along, a gleaming silver city in a glassy dome, layers and layers of buildings all stacked on top each other. This isn't the town I grew up in anymore, and their abusive systems and lack of concern for the poor is too much. And no matter how many buildings I destroy or how many bullet metros I derail, everything is back together too quick.
At least they haven't found my underground shelter. A former fallout shelter from the Cold War era, I've done my best to make it a place for the impoverished to stay and keep warm and safe while I plan out our next plan of attack with the revolutionaries. We might hit the Omniplex next, replace their new action film with a filmreel we made of a homeless man starving and their precious super soldier smashing an office to fight one of our Scrapyard Dog robots.
Omniman was gifted with incredible speed, strength, endurance, flight and intelligence, but the one thing I have over him is wisdom. He is blind to the damage he's done to his town, and Omni Corp is blind to the corruption they've caused within their own city. Crime rates at an all-time high, and a prison population of the poorest souls on the streets. This should not be, and it seems the task of restoring my fair Metro City falls on my aged shoulders. One step at a time, we'll get there. For now, let's just get our film in place in all of the Omniplex's theaters, and pack a handgun or two in case things go south. It's the most we can do right now, anyways.
Here's to a new day.
