Pictures dotted the walls of the Lupin household. Memories from each generation of the Lupin family...decades of history.
A looming figure crept through the house, the sinking sun coloring everything orange with it’s light. Cygnus and Carrie Lupin were gone that day, leaving the children with a muggle babysitter.
As the sun sank lower in the sky, the trespasser grew more and more anxious. His hunger for blood grew. He shook his hefty head, reminding himself he wasn’t to kill the children. He licked his chapped lips. But the muggle was all his.
Soon the sun had finally gone, and the full moon was slowly taking it’s place in the darkening sky. Early stars peaked through the cirrus clouds.
The man whom had been watching the muggle and the children for over an hour sneaked out of his hiding place behind the couch. The muggle babysitter had fallen asleep on the couch and the two children were playing with stuffed hippogriffs, dragons, and a squid.
The small boy with honey brown hair and stormy green eyes looked at the man. He gave a smile. “Play!” He said in a high-pitched voice. The man let out a low laugh.
“Yes, little one. Play,” he said, pronouncing the word “play” with malice. The moonlight peaked from the edge of a cloud passing in front of it, dying the room silver. The man let out a noise from the back of his throat as he fell on all fours. His bones gave off sickening cracks as they starting to rearrange. He started to laugh which turned into a long drawn out howl. His yellow eyes glinted once he had finished transforming. He flexed his claws the size of knives and snapped his six-inch-long fangs. He breathed in the scent of the two children and the muggle.
He turned around with the swish of his tail and leapt onto the muggle woman. She let out a screech as he sank his teeth into her flesh. The coppery flavor filled his senses, making his mouth water for more.
The small boy’s eyes widened in fear and scrambled away, tugging his sister’s hand to follow.
The large wolf finished the muggle woman within seconds, blood staining the wood floor and couch. He licked his scarlet-stained muzzle and turned to the children, whom were cowering in the corner. He let out a bark, and the boy jumped. The panic in his eyes only grew as the beast slowly padded toward them, his tail wagging with anticipation. The small boy used his body as a shield for his sister as the wolf pounced. His claws caught the bridge of the boy’s nose. He let out a scream of pain, tears pooling around his eyes.
The beast let out a sound like a laugh and swiped again. The attack was interrupted as two people ran into the room. “FLIPENDO!” Shouted one, hitting the wolf with a jet of light, making it tumble backwards and into a cabinet, splintering the wood.
“Petrficus Totalus!” Shouted the other, making the beast go stiff.
The parents of the two children rushed to the aid of their son, ignoring the torn up body on their couch. “We need to get to St. Mungo’s,” the mother of the two, Carrie, said in a hushed, but panicked tone.
“You go, I’ll take the wolf to the Ministry,” said Cygnus, the father. Carrie nodded hesitantly and then scooped up her son and took hold of her daughter’s hand. They walked to the fire place and she grabbed a handful of floo powder. “ST. MUNGO’S!” She shouted and disappeared
