Gods have been around since the start of time. They control everything from when planets are born and when stars die. Every god comes in pairs, and much like the tales, they are soulmates, two sides to a coin. One light creator and one dark creator. These gods are meant to balance out each other, but like most tales, not everyone finds their other half. Others find them at birth and while it takes others years to find theirs. One of the most famous tales told to children is about the brothers. The oldest of light and the youngest of darkness. This kind of pairing was unfortunate because no matter how much you love a sibling, one will always be jealous of the other.
Now imagine dinosaurs for example. You had the carnivores and the herbivores. You can see the light and dark balance. Revis however, never found his light balance, so his dark creations had no balance. He loved to create creatures that had sharp teeth and eat at everything that came across their path. Revis loved filling empty planets with them, watching them destroy themselves and then simply destroying them with a flick of a finger.
Children of gods were rare, and so were the sibling rates. There was the famous rumour of three that had been scared into the gods since the dawn of time. One of light, one of darkness and one unknown. The Silver’s knew the risks of having another child. Genevieve thought since it was her second husband’s second child, they would be safe and of course, they were. Revis was born into the dark, and Fawn got the light, it was Ivana they had to worry about. There never has been a god who couldn’t create. Of course, this story isn’t about her, nor is it about the story of the history of gods.
Revis had been tailing his little brother ever since they turned the ship around. He wanted to get a look at his designs. Revis had dark thoughts clouding his mind. He thought of all the wonderful creatures he could create with Fawn's original design. He started tailing Fawn, hoping he would find some useful blackmail material, but he found something better.
Ivana was a big inspiration to Fawn and he looked up to her, despite her lack of creativity. Revis hated this more than the boy's light magic. So when he spotted Ivana and Amari locking lips on the back staircase, he smiled to himself. He knew Ivana had been helping Fawn with his designs, so this was going to be an easy win. It was like taking candy from a baby.
“Well, well, well, what do we have here?”
Amari and Ivana skited apart, pink at the cheeks. They had hoped since this side of the ship isn’t used that often, that no one would walk down this way. Of course, Revis never did walk this way, but he had lost sight of Fawn a few minutes prior and decided to poke around the parts of the ship he was not familiar with.
“Revis, what are you doing down here?”
“That is what I should be asking you, little sister. Run along Amari, I do not see the need to involve you in this.”
“Of course my lord.”
Bowing her head slightly, Amari shuffled from the corner, ignoring the plea in Ivana’s eyes. Ivana knew this was eventually going to bite her in the butt. Genevieve had given her instructions to become close with Levi, but obviously, she had other plans.
“What do you want Revis?”
“What do you mean sis? I was merely strolling past.”
“And sticking your nose into other people’s business. I know you, you will want something for this secret to be held.”
“I would never intentionally blackmail another family member. Sadly, you think of your older brother like that.”
Ivana rolls her eyes and goes to walk away from this conversation until she was stopped by Revis’ stupid smile on his face.
“Well now that you mention it, there is something you can do for me.”
“Of course. Just spit it out.”
“I know you helped our dear little brother with his little project. All I want are his design plans.”
“No.”
Revis was taken aback by her sudden answer. There was no thinking about this. Ivana loved her little brother and knew that Revis would do anything to make sure he destroyed anything Fawn created. She would rather have her secret known than betray Fawn.
“How about you sleep on it? Give me an answer tomorrow.”
“It’s still a no, no matter how much sleep I get. I will not betray Fawn. I am not a vulture-like you Revis. I will not destroy him like this.”
“Then you won’t mind if I tell mother all about this little act I just caught you doing?”
Ivana stopped still for a moment, the thought running through her mind. She wasn’t scared of her mother, but she was scared of her father. They were a traditional family and Ivana has the burden of carrying on another family line. She cannot do that if she is locked in with another female god. Ivana didn’t hate the idea of having to have children with a man, but she sure as hell did not want to get married to one.
“That’s fine.”
Revis watched his sister walk away from him, a small jump in her pride. He was almost dumbfounded for a moment. The threat should have worked but he wasn’t that close with his family members to know who was scared of who. Revis also doesn’t speak to his stepfather. He once said something about a dead body being present when they finally sit down and talk. He didn’t elaborate on whose dead body it would be.
Just when he thought he had lost this case, he spotted Levi’s door opening. Fawn was just leaving Levi’s room, his face red and his clothes crumbled. Levi had a weird smirk on his face, which was also beet red. When Fawn and Revis made eye contact, Fawn stilled at the thought of Revis catching him in some dirty act. But when Revis huffed and turned without acknowledging them, Fawn has never felt more afraid.
