A story, is a writer's weapon. It conveys ideas into colorful worlds. It can be a powerful tool to change people's hearts; or a joyful game to entertain peoples mind.
"You shoot to kill" as so your story should do. You have to subvert expectations. Deliver a story in a way the readers lose their minds, in a way the readers feel touched or feel a relation between them and the story, as they say, "hook" the reader into the characters, the environment, your writing style, whatever you can to make it relatable to the reader as much as possible.
Now that's our base. I suggest working on the writing style, you can't catch a horse with a loose lasso after all.
Another thing i should shed light on is, character and world development. Live the world you built and experience it, Be the characters you made, "what would they do next?" you should know, get to know who you are writing about, like a real person, that way you can understand how to write properly about them.
Moving on, I encourage keeping notes, and writing notes about the story and all your thoughts. because at some point when things might get complex, reverting to notes help with regaining the concepts that were once established.
moreover, always try to explain a lot of meanings in little sentences, a wall of text can explain of little if poorly utilized as such writing effective yet simpler sentences is more encouraged in some contexts.
another thing, is to, "keep the gun at the bird", remember your story's goal, and try to introduce your plot elements in, again, unexpected style.
Last thing you should do is, have fun, "if it is not fun, it is not practice" that's what I say to myself always, you have to have fun while writing, don't force yourself on one set of rules, be flexible on your ways, this way, you keep the story fresh and for everyone!
TL;DR
Basically keep those on mind.
1- subvert expectations.
2- make the story relatable .
3- create your own awesome writing style.
4- live the world you made, and talk to the characters you made
5- keep notes about your story for they can help on later
6- try to write small with bigger meanings.456Please respect copyright.PENANAHwOOJujCfJ
7- don't venture away from the plot, always introduce the new elements
8- always have fun, be flexible and don't be on one set of writing rules.
