Aubrey
Waking up before twelve on a Saturday was something I had no interest in. Quite frankly, my only intentions on Saturdays was to sit in my room and eat fruity pebbles all day.
Waking up, I hurried to the bathroom to shower and brush my teeth. It was almost eight and I knew if I didn't start getting ready now, I would never be ready in time.
My outfit was simple. A ripped, light blue Jean short jumper, a sky blue v neck, and my Colombia 11s. My hair was styled half up and half down. It was cute.
After washing my face and applying blistex to my lips, I grabbed my cell phone and knocked lightly on Alexis's door before eventually just pushing it open.
She was laying on her bed, fully clothed, and had headphones around her ears. The only thing that got her attention was me flailing my arms around. I must've have scared her because she flinched and quickly removed the headphones. "Oh, hey. You got ready quick." She said nervously, causing me to burst into laughter. "Yes. I did. Are you ready?" I questioned her. "Yeah. I've been up since five. Come on." Alexis slid off the bed and motioned for me to follow her.
We ended up in a garage that had about six cars parked neatly inside. "Which ones yours?" I asked, examine all of the vehicles. "The red Beamer. Duh." She said. "Like I was supposed to know that." I giggled. Alexis grabbed her car keys from underneath the car and unlocked it. "Now, I'll let you sit in the front for the day. But next time your in the back. I usually reserve this seat for my brother Jay." Alexis stated, playfully.
Alexis and I spent the half hour just talking and getting to know each other as we drove around Los Angeles, picking up her friends. "I know she sexy and all but do she really have to sit in the front?" Jay complained from the backseat for the third time. "Son, shut up. Bitching ain't a good look for you." Alexis joked, causing me to laugh. "This isn't funny. I'll get you, Auburn." He sucked his teeth.
"It's Aubrey. And if you say so." I shrugged, pulling out my phone to text Mike. It had been almost a day that I had last spoken to him. I had fallen asleep early last night and missed his call. We never ended our conversations without an "I love you" or "talk to you later babe." This was new for me. For us.
A tapping on my left shoulder brought me out of my thoughts. "So keep it real. You cheating on me?" Carl, another one of Alexis's friends asked. "Boy what? Do I even know you?" I turned around to face him. My actions caused everyone in the car to erupt into giggles. "You got it. It's over, Aubrey. Wanna act brand new." Carl smoothly slid back into his seat and turned his heads towards the window.
"Oh, shit. I forgot to get money from my mom." I thought aloud. Alexis looked at me and smirked. "Don't worry, I got you." Weird. I furrowed my eyebrows at her. "Relax. My dad gave me his card for us." She explained.
The first place we arrived was the Waffle House. Alexis ordered for me while her friends fended for themselves. A few minutes later, our food was delivered and a plate full of waters and fried chicken was put in front of me with a a cup of syrup on the side.
I never really took interest in hot breakfast but this food was amazing. It was kind of uncommon for syrup to be put on fried chicken but it became common for me. The buttery sweet waffles was such a perfect combination with the fried chicken that my mouth water at the thought of taking another bite. "This is so good." I moaned, letting my taste buds take in what they had just been exposed to. Alexis looked at me and smiled before taking her napkin and using it wipe the corner of my mouth. "You got a little butter on the side here." She said softly, gently wiping the mess away.
It was so hard to walking through the mall after eating such a large meal. My stomach was full and my body felt like jello. I had the itis. The only thing that kept me motivated to not pass out was Alexis.
Alexis was shopping for the both of us. She picked out clothes and shoes that appealed to both of us. I was into sneakers and she was too, so we ended up with the same sneakers. As well as a few sweatsuits. Alexis was such a good time and was nothing like the girls I usually surrounded myself with. She was different. She was intriguing.
We had been in the mall for three hours before we decided to call it a day. Of course, I fell asleep on the way back home.
I woke up around five in the morning in my bed, in my a baggy t shirt and a pair of shorts. My clothes from the mall were sitting in the corner of my room and phone sat on my bedside table. The only thing I could think about was Mike and how I had overslept and hadn't gotten a chance to talk to him last night.
Reaching for my phone, I unlocked it and was immediately bombarded by missed calls and text messages. Oh gosh, I thought to myself as I powered off my phone and made my way to the outside to take a walk.
Hank must have been a really successful man. The backyard had a large square pool and sat on a hill that overlooked the city of Los Angeles. The sun was just starting to rise and the view was beautiful. Not wanting to miss it, I took a seat in the grass and laid back, looking up at the sky.
The bouncing of a ball caused me to jump and quickly turn around. It was Alexis. "Wow. Your up early." She scoffed, tossing the ball up in the air and catching it. "I could say the same for you." She responded. "You were so tired yesterday. I don't know how you slept so long." She laughed, walking over and laying down next to me. "I enjoy my sleep. How did I get in these?" I questioned, referring to my clothing appearance. "Your mother. Dad carried you upstairs and she took it from there." She replied.
"Oh." I responded. Alexis turned her head to face me and looked into my eyes. For some reason, eye contact with her made me feel tingly. I averted my eyes back to the sunrise and tried to relax.
What was happening?
