Kai isn't the one who would give up that easily after all my blood flows in his veins. My brave surviver was sleeping soundly in his ward, I comforted my unsteady heart just by watching him through the glass window. My throat was closing up every now and then thinking what he must have gone through but I won't shed tears. Only cowards and losers do that. I have to stand up strong for him.
The masked guy was coming into view as I turned around. I Blinked back emotions before he was at me.
"How is he?" He asked but searched my eyes.
"Out of danger. He will sleep for like days but you can see him after we eat something." I genuinely wanted to thank him for his help buy I didn't said anything because I was in condition where I'd cry if I started.
"The cops have taken Ashley and the other three into custody. After done eating wanna visit police station first?" He sounded like he's already on work mode. It was morning already so I considered it. But my baby goes first.
"Hey, You know you are free to leave after I treat you to meal. I'm thankful for your help till here but I can manage from here on." I patted his bicep tilting my head gifting a meaningful smile holding back tears.
He looped his arm around my waist and pulled me in a hug. I rested my forehead on his chest closing my eyes. He lifted his hand caressing my head and back, I nuzzled further into his warmth. I guess I needed it badly right now. And I bursted out crying, clutching his shirt into fists. I hated that he didn't mind me ruining his clothes but smoothed down his free hand down my back while other secured around me keeping me in place. When I opened my eyes I was in Kai's ward on his lap, my head rested on his arm and his eyes fixated on me. My legs rested on one of the chairs.
"Hey, you can remove your mask here, no one can see you here. It's safe." I assured him. Getting off him.
"You will." He stated and I stretched giving him a bewildered look.
"Why does it matter. I already know you." I shrugged stating as a matter of fact.
"What do you know?" He arched a brow at me, not moving. I bent forward to his level. "I know that You are the man who lives in my house and never tells me his name so I still address him as a stranger." My wink was a cherry on his cake. His eyes widened then narrowed.
"But how?" He frowned. "Don't think I'll forget those eyes, those looks. The skin I've touched more than a thousand times. That elegance this body illuminates. Don't think I'll ever forget." My normal voice lowered to a whisper as I ended.

"Don't say things like that. I can't promise I won't fuck you senseless tonight." He ruffled his hairs in the most adorable manner, his eyes boring into mine and I shy away to kai.
"I'm still angry with all your lies so keep your fine hands far from me. I can't promise I won't chop them tonight!" I retorted squatting beside Kai's bed. The nurses said he'd at least take two days to wake up. The fact that he helped me get my son back alive had compensated his lies but I demanded the truth despite all that. And his rude behavior won't be an exception nevertheless.
My stomach rumbled "let's eat before you chop my hands to feed me yourself." He offered his hand for me to rise and I gladly slide mine into his. "Tell me your name." Demanding I looked into his eyes.
"Callen Trevino" his grin was something I never saw before. It hadn't been for his innocent smile today he would've earned a slap from me for making me edgy over such a trivial matter.
He pulled me closer where his hands could be around me and I looped mine around his neck.
I don't know why or how but things escalated before I could approve things logically.
Just his presence allures me to get close to his warmth. I got the vibes from him while his eyes implying the same that he felt the same way about touching me and making contact every time I'm at his arm length.
I break the magic spell binding us. It wasn't appropriate.
"You got many things to confess. Better not waste time." 'cause I got very little of it before I strike down the storm raging on the other side.
We exited the room and I led the way down the lobby.
"Next time when we will be back. You can take a longer look at kai." I said realizing he hasn't actually spent time with the one he saved.
"Do I have to?" He said with no interest, almost unwilling.
"Why wouldn't you want to?" I stopped short looking back at him, he halted too. My chest felt a tinge of pain, just by his words.
I shouldn't have felt hurt. Wasn't I waiting for his harsh rude attitude for me from so long. Then why? When he finally did it.
Maybe because he didn't actually use sharp tone not even curse words. Just an upset confused simple question.
