I sold everything I ever had

under a sign that said farewell

the truth is I've gone so far

I might not remember who you are.

Too many friends and lovers I've lost,

protecting myself at any cost

too many times I've played with fire

and I enjoyed getting burned.

I'm tired, I wish it was over

that part of me that you tried to smother

it's so strong it survived underwater

So tired, I wish it was over

that rope you threw me to hang myself with

it broke in two in my hands and I'm realizing it.

Sometimes I've felt so lost

that I had to talk to ghosts

and every time I sin

I'm so happy that I couldn't win.

I'm on a hill that looks like the top,

but just a few know that it's not

and being one of them I feel the pressure

of the mountain above

and what's worse, oh it goes to show

so many people try to pull me below.
