Today on Jamal's cup of tea,
Is Amy ok?
Well look who made the headlines again? Arsenic's ladies are no strangers in finding trouble. Our reporters spotted the leading lady falling on her knees during the Annual Bullion Town Ball, bruising her head and pride at the same time.
Ouch!
Meanwhile the drummer Terry got into yet another brawl with fellow musician Matthew Rosy.
Well one thing is sure these ladies sure know how to get on the headlines.
Stay tuned for more hot tea.

Abandoned and Forgotten
Sometimes when you pass by something, a distant memory tugs in your head, calling and reaching for your attention. The association of the memory and the thing which reminded you of it, doesn’t have to make sense.
And for someone like me, almost everything has a story, a memory which is calling out for me.
And so it had to happen eventually, when my driver turned on the radio, and a song with many memories started to play.
Few years Ago
“Drop dead Gorgeous, baby when you smile.
Baby when you smile
Drop dead gorgeous
Ooohhhh”
I remember looking at him in awe and shock. Sam was right next to me holding me and grinning as we both gazed on the stage.
I felt numb and scared and vulnerable. Around thousands of students, their parents and the school faculty were staring on the stage, their faces nothing but a blur of amusement.
I remember asking Sam if he knew about this.
“He wanted to surprise you” Sam replied and cheered his friend. Once the initial shock passed and I began to understand the lyrics, my teenage heart pumped hot blood to my face.
It was unbelievable, we were barely fifteen, and I was being serenaded in front of my whole school. And though my knees shook, I was beyond excited, my naïve heart beating rapidly.
I wasn’t the only fool though, on stage I looked at his flushed face, as he concentrated on the song. His knuckles white from clutching the mic with nervousness.
And as our eyes met I gave him a supporting smile, which helped him relax and belt out with more confidence, grinning all the way.747Please respect copyright.PENANASmMzeH1dj9
“The day I have seen you smiling
For the really first time
Is the really first time
I have seen a girl like that smile”
Just then, Sam, Rob, Naina and T jumped on the stage and scattered to their positions.
And as the crowd cheered them, I looked at them dumbstruck for keeping a secret from me.
T counted them off on her drum sticks and they started playing together.
I remember their blended voices as they sang in perfect harmony wooing the crowd and the crowd’s faces filled with awe and admiration.
My heart swelled with various emotions as the music overtook me. I remember becoming numb and excited and I remember the smile he threw just before the curtains closed.
The audience roared into applause and cheered our names. But I ran away from them, my legs sliding as I reached backstage to my bandmates.
As soon as they saw me Terry and Rob lifted me up in joy.
“Oh my god we did it” I remember Naina and Sam jumping up and down.
And as he asked me casually how was it? I remember hitting him for not including me in the song; right before giving him a huge hug.
That was the debut of the single that sky rocketed our fame. The single that secured us a spot in the top 50 singles. We weren’t signed to any record, that wasn’t even an official song.
It was just a silly song a silly boy sang to his silly girlfriend in front of his whole school, which started a trend, where students started serenading those exact lines to their crushes when they were too afraid to admit their feelings.
The song that started our journey as the people’s band ‘Alpha’.
Now,
“Amy?” my driver wakes me up from my day dreams, I turn to him expectantly.
“Your phone, it has been ringing” he says and gestures to my purse.
“Ah, thanks” I quickly pull out my phone and curse at the caller id.
“Shit are we late?” I ask my driver.
“No, we will reach there on time. I am taking the short cut through the forest” he replied.
Hmm.
I pick up my call and get ready to hear the screams of my manager, Maria.
I lean back, take deep breaths and answer the call bracing myself for the inevitable.
“Amy have you been kidnapped?” she asks her voice loud and irritated.
“No” I fumble.
“Attacked by a bear then?” she asks again.
“No”
“Car stopped working?”
“No Maria I will_”
“Then why the hell are you late!” She screams and I cringe.
I quickly look at my watch and see that I still got time.
“I will be there I promise just, just trust me” I hang up before she can say anything.
Dropping the phone into the purse, I sigh and look at my driver.
“That was a close call” Ken my middle aged driver says as he starts the radio.
And to my utter horror “And if that wasn’t enough gossip, stick around for our thoughts on Amy’s incident yesterday. We can’t exactly blame the poor girl”
I wince and tell him, “Change the channel, my god”
I lean back and look out the window hurt. Word sure travels fast.
I glance at Ken, he leaves one hand on the wheel and reaches to change the station, and as if the humiliation wasn’t enough to kill me. Something with inhumane speed whooshes by us. Ken who wasn’t expecting something so violent in the deserted forest tracks spins the wheel. Making unintentional circles with my Cadillac.
“Shit!” I catch him curse just as I fall in my seat sideways.
When the car finally stops. I catch Ken’s voice.
“Amy you ok?”
I close my eyes and take rapid breaths.
An unpleasant buzzing starts in my head and when I touch it, the pain from yesterday responds with sharp pricks of pain.
“Awh” I mutter and nurse my head. When I dare sit up, I see that Ken is panting still recovering from shock. I look out the window and see that we were just seconds away from crashing into a tree.
Without warning I get out my car ready to unleash hell upon whatever passed us by.
I slam the door shut, and take a couple steps on the rocky terrain of the forest, my boots crunching the dried leaves and twigs under me.
Within walking distance I see the thing responsible, a shiny car which is clearly out of place.
“Amy” I hear Ken, I don’t look back.
I stomp onward, months and months of frustration, irritation, exhaustion and humiliation fuelling my every step.
Ken catches up to me panting. “Amy stop!”
But I ignore him as I see the door of that car open and someone step out. And as I get closer, I stop.
Holy Shit!
At this part I had pretty choice words to say about my fate. Of all the cliché things in this cursed universe. Is this some kind of a twisted joke to you, fate?
I look ahead my nostrils flaring.
Ken looks at me with exhaustion and fear, “It’s Ris_”
“Yeah I know” I mutter “I see now”
