Of nature so whimsical.
I smile when I wake up to the sun that shines, the birds sing, the rain falls, the leaves fly.
I could be waking up in a trench or worse, but I'm always waking up to the beauty of a new day.
I smile because I have dreams.
I have an education in what I love and people love what I do.
I could be on my own like I feel sometimes, but I know always that someone cares.
I am not alone in what I love to do. People support my dreams and let me dream.
I smile because I can sing.
I could be able to not speak a single word, but I have a voice that helps me to shout my heart and soul with those that also love to sing or like to play instruments.
I smile because I have friends.
A long time ago I burned bridges because people hurt me.
I began to set the bridges known as friendship on fire before I knew the friends I have now. They stopped the fires by extinguishing them with their kindness and love for people like who I was.
I have a youth family.
They are my friends, but they are my family as well.
I have been to so many youth groups and in them I always found pain.
Now, I have found family and fellowship in this one.
Every Wednesday, we gather to play games, sings songs and listen to words of wisdom. After listening to the sermon of the week, we all gather to eat at Chick-fil-A and we talk, laugh and make memories that all of my journals will never be able to hold but my heart will.
I have a church family.
Just like my youth family, but far greater in number.
Near Thanksgiving Day, the whole church, big ad small, young and old, stood together hand in hand, on Easter we all sang to the last song of the service, every Sunday, we all gather and embrace each other like the sweetly broken family we are.
I smile because I have my own family.
Through thick and thin, my family has gone through tough times.
With a mother and a father with a love unbreakable, my sisters and brother have learned so much from them and they never give up on us. They work all day and most of the night for us so that we can have a brighter future. They teach us what we need to know, they teach us right from wrong.
I smile because of the little angel that is up in Heaven.
He lives eternally in Heaven with an amazing and life changing couple, his older brother, my childhood friend, and many others.
That angel sings with the saints and smiles with the blue in his eyes glimmering like diamonds and he lives in every beautiful memory of my past and ever wondrous spring day in my future.
I smile because I am in love.
I could be alone or I could always be alone, but no.
No, I have not found love but love found me. Of all the souls in the world, I am in love with my best friend in the whole wide world.
The one I love is just like me, he knows everything about me, and he looks past who I have been. He enjoys my silly smile, my endless jokes, and even goofy things I do that don't make sense.
We have seen the fires in our relationship and when I thought that it was all going to burn down, I remember the last things that always makes me smile.
I smile because I have a savior.
I could be lost in the dark forever. I could be left in the abyss of all of the stupid and selfish things with chains of guilt and shame upon my wrists.
But no, that is not my fate.
I did so may horrible things in my past and I regret them all. There used to be days so pitch black and the sun was shining. It was because I was stuck in my disgusting and filthy sin and I couldn't get myself out of the six feet deep hole that I had dug for myself with my guilt.
I was screaming my transgressions and blaming myself in hope that I could be fixed. I tried to fix my problems on my own but I only sunk further into the filthiness of my wrongdoings.
When I thought I was so far gone for salvation, I felt a strong hand take me out of my regrets when my soul called for rescue.
I was remade into the little girl that I was once before, a girl who dreamed without a care in the world.
I have been reborn in Him, Christ Jesus.
He gave me freedom and hope, love and joy.
I can fully appreciate what God has created in this world because He sent His son down to save all of us. He died for me when I was still sinful, and when I hated Him and doubted Him.
Without Him, I am nothing.
With Him, I have everything...and then my other millions of blessings.
I smile because...
Jesus has saved me and I accepted His sacrifice.
I smile because...
He has taken away my shame.
I smile because.
Jesus loves me.
