I watched as the sea splashed against the rocks and hung my head down low. I could only think about him. All the time, he's all I could think about.
"Hey, you okay?"
I looked up to find George staring at me.
"I can't stop thinking about him."
George blinked at me, puzzled.
"Can't stop thinking about who?"
"Him." I looked out at the sea, eyes wide. "I can't stop thinking about how scared he was when he showed up on my doorstep, how tearful his eyes were when he begged me to let him stay there."
"Oh." George took a seat next to me, patting my shoulder. "You can't stop thinking about Lucas."
"He just thinks he can vanish from my life, only to waltz right back in when he needs something?" I jumped to my feet. "He left me. He left me with her and he didn't look back!"
"He's your brother, Sammy," George said, standing and resting a hand on my shoulder. "You love him, don't you?"
I gnawed on my lower lip, looking out at the horizon. "I don't know."
"Sam, he's your brother. Your flesh and blood. He protected you for how long?"
"He left!"
"He left to build a safe house for you to go to!"
"It doesn't matter why he left, but he did and he left me alone!"
"Samael?"
I whirled around and came face-to-face with my brother.
"Speak of the devil," I muttered, crossing my arms. "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to come think about some stuff," Lucas explained. "This was my place to think when I was younger."
I scoffed and kicked at a small rock, watching it sail through the air before landing by Lucas' left foot.
"I'll leave you to it," I grumbled. I walked away from George, eager to pass Lucas and leave when Lucas grabbed my wrist.
"No, please," he whispered. I looked up into his tear filled eyes and felt something inside me cave in. "Stay."
I exhaled roughly but nodded, casting my gaze to the ground.
"I'll stay."
"Good." Lucas tipped my chin up. "We have a lot we need to talk about."
