I stand corrected. (in regards with my post concerning the sfx on Sasuke’s reaction in chapter 627)
I just had to make this post.
First I’d like to apologize for the mistake I made on my post regarding the sfx on Sasuke’s reaction. I stand corrected. I admit that I have made a mistake and that I don’t know much about sfx in general. I never claimed to be an expert on sfx. I just tried to find what that sfx is since it’s meaning was never explicitly expressed. I couldn’t read the second character properly because I have poor eyesight, I’m not using it as an excuse, I’m saying it’s one of the reasons why I couldn’t figure out the sfx. It’s an honest mistake, also I referred from a translation source that I thought would be correct in terms of identifying sfx. I knew that the first character was “su” or “zu” and it’s a katakana. I guess I fell short on looking for credible resources on that “ri” character.
Also on ‘dakuten’, I edited my initial statement on that. I didn’t know what it particularly puts stress or emphasis on. I’m not an expert on sfx nor do I claim to be an expert on anything. (Maybe I should have waited until I could ask my sensei about it.)
Also, it’s not a pairing argument. I tagged it as SasuKarin because the people who follows this tag are the ones who will care the most about this topic. I did not put any argument but I do believe in the statement that Karin hasn’t let go of the stabbing because of her dialogue: “Shikata ne na”
I’m not angry that people are saying that I’m wrong. I accept that I’m wrong. I stand corrected. I don’t want to fight, it’s just that I can’t accept this, the bolded lines particularly:
I’m aware the author of the post edited, but there is nothing about the sfx that supports the pairing argument. Dakuten ゛only emphasizes the articulation of vowels.
I edited the info about dakuten, too.
It’s a clarification that’s entirely unfounded, showing that they are not in the position to lecture about Japanese to support their views. I read that she has poor eyesight and I’m sorry about that, but again, dakuten isn’t used for sfx emphasis like she says, but to stress the strangled articulation of vowels. I just find it irritating to see people jumping on whatever random thing that favors their views. I feel that some really take it too far, considering they neither have the linguistic qualifications nor the humility to admit they have no idea what they’re reblogging.
Even though a fellow SK fan who had a particular exchange with this person said that it was her, I think that this was more about me since the author of this post kept on using she instead of you. This person kept referring to me so which is why I think these allegations were addressed to me. And I did reblog my post first by linking it with a post from the SK FC tumblr.
I believe that I stated the fact that I don’t know much about sfx. I have admitted with that statement that I lack the sufficient knowledge about it. I just find it irritating to be accused as someone who doesn’t admit that she’s wrong and doesn’t admit her lack of sufficient knowledge about a certain matter, because that’s one of the attitudes I hate the most. I call people like that as “people who refuse to see the truth”, “people who choose to be blind from the truth”, and “people with too much pride.”
As for me, I don’t mind being corrected. Being corrected, by people who have actual knowledge about a certain matter, is a good thing because I can learn from it. Now I know that these quotation marks (“) are called 'dakuten’ and what they are for. Thank you very much.
As for the post, I won’t delete it despite that it shows my incompetence. It’s fine because I admit that I’m wrong and I stand to be corrected. I corrected the mistake I made on my own post and even referred to the people who corrected me because I don’t mind admitting my fault for "not having any idea about it”.
And from now on I’m never going to do a post about sfx. I’ll just stick to translating, with scripts that knowledgeable people have typed and were able to recognize the kanji and kana characters from the raw. I’ll ask my sensei too if I get the opportunity, because it seems I lack the linguistic qualifications despite the fact I’m studying Nihonggo.
I don’t want to fight, I just want to explain myself. I just needed to take that out. Thank you very much.
