Rush week was in January.
I looked at the other girls, and they were nervous. Diane was like me. She was confident, and I saw she would do well. Diane was fifteen, a year older than I was. That was the way things panned out. Some of the girls had their names on the creamy walls; some sang songs, and danced; some were enjoying their performance on stage. In short, everyone in charge of the sorority house, especially Mrs. Klein, the Delta Delta Delta house mother, was watched us, and I didn't do anything wrong.
Then the interview came, and I was ready.

"What's your name?', Mrs. Klein asked me.
'Madison. Or Maddie for short', I answered.408Please respect copyright.PENANAYm9zoumdlz
'You're fourteen'.408Please respect copyright.PENANA2hI6CiaaRl
'Yes, fifteen in August'.408Please respect copyright.PENANAGykIRWLMQs
'I see'.
'Diane, your sister, is already here'.
'Yes, but I want to join on my own merits'.
'That's what I want to hear, Maddie. Bid Day is one of the processes. Rush Week is the final process before you're accepted in the sorority house. Basically, you need to be kind, and welcoming for the Sisterhood to accept you. Do you have any questions?', Mrs. Klein asked me.
'Yes, I accept what you're saying', I answered.
'Great. Do you sing and act, and dance?'.
'Yes, sometimes in theatre class. Of course, I prefer behind the scenes work. Directing, and producing. Dad is a director on Broadway. Mom does the costumes. Diane, my sister, performs with me. But I need to do my own thing'.
'I understand, Maddie. Would you like to see the dorms?'.408Please respect copyright.PENANAcx6Y6BbmX3
'Yes, please Mrs. Klein'.408Please respect copyright.PENANAaJz2Vo1Vo6
'Please, follow me, Maddie'.
I got off the black chair, and she opened the mahogany double doors. The sounds of girls' voices was in the hallways. Some of them saw me, and I waved at them. Today was the beginning, tomorrow would be another night before I was selected to be part of the sorority house.
