I skipped down the stairs, almost tripped, but caught myself by steadying my arms. “Yeah mom and dad?” My dad motioned for me to sit down at our new table. I did, and the chair wobbled a bit, it’s pretty old. My dad got up and opened the door. There stood an older woman, probably around her mid-forties. She had dark brown hair, and silver glasses that made her look like she had gigantic eyes. I giggled a bit, but my mom glared at me.
”My name is Mariam. I am your tutor,” the woman said. I nodded my head, I’ve been at this before. You be all nice and they’ll leave you alone. “I’m Isabel,” I mumbled. She sternly looked at me for a while, before sighing and forcing a smile. “Well, let’s get started... Isabel.”
She always seemed so mad. Like there was a chip on her shoulder and it’s been there forever. I sighed at her as she tried explaining the math problem again. “X equals P multiplied with Q. Ok?” She was kind of irritated that I wasn’t understanding. But who needs to know what P and Q are anyway?
After an exhausting two hours of tutoring and learning, she finally left. I could have not been glad enough. My parents weren’t the happiest, since we didn’t kick off and have a somewhat good session. But that lady’s grouchy. There’s no way I’m being nice to her.
The next three sessions didn’t go well. She ended of quitting. Saying ‘I don’t pay attention, and I need to learn to respect adults.’ Garbage, right? My parents and I had a very long talk. And they are concerned about my learning.
After complaining and giving them reasons why I’m doing great for fifteen minutes, I gave up. I went upstairs to unpack and while I was sorting through my calls, I heard my phone vibrating.
