Prologue 4
Summer, 1977
'I am re-opening the camp, Paul', Steve Christy said.
'What about the fires in '59, and the poisoned water in '60?', Paul Holt asked his friend.
'Accidents, it's not bad karma', Steve answered, as they drank coffee at the Crystal Lake Diner, where Sandy, the middle-aged, red haired woman smiled at them. She wore glasses, and was a waitress there since 1962, during the Presidency of John F. Kennedy.
'Yes, Sandy, more for both of us. Ginny, and Alice, are talking in the Ladies' Restroom. They're coming soon. Then, after breakfast, we're going to Camp Crystal Lake', Steve told her.
'Be careful, Steve, Paul'.
'We will, Sandy', Paul said.
The door opened, and Ginny Field, the nineteen year old Psychology student, and the girlfriend of Paul Holt, who was the Manager of Camp Tomahawk, was twenty-three. Both men were grinning.
'Alice is looking forward to the summer', Ginny said.
Alice, who was a California artist, and Steve's girlfriend, was seventeen. Steve was twenty-five. The relationship was mutual. It was 1977, and every girl, boy, and adult was free to live in a country in which President Jimmy Carter was Commander-In-Chief.
'The camp is three miles from the Diner', Alice said.
'Get something to eat, and drink, Alice', Steve told her.
The young women ordered cherry pies, and coffees.
It was a cold, summer's day in Crystal Lake, and the horror was yet to come.
