Chapter Two
Ned was aiming his arrows at the target.
'I don't believe you', Brenda gasped.
'You're pretty when you're scared', Ned smiled.
And he skipped away in his Native American costume towards the cold lake.
***
The campers were making sure the place was clean.
Then, after lunch, the group begun to swim.
Ned flailed in the water.
'Help me! Help me!'.
Jack ran off the bridge, and performed CPR on his friend. Ned coughed up water out of his lungs. The prank didn't work. He felt silly. Brenda sighed, and saw a shadow in the deep woods. 'Who do you see?', Marcie asked her. 'Someone's watching us', she answered.
'Who?'.
'I don't know', Brenda said.
And she shivered.
***
Alice saw Bill.
'Do you think we'd be here all day?', Bill asked her.
'I don't think we'd last all week', Alice answered.
And they smiled, as both of them attended to other duties after swimming.
***
Alice saw the snake in cabin 5.
'Bill!!!'
He ran into the cabin with Jack, Marcie, Ned, and Brenda.
He grabbed the creature with his right hand, and dragged it into the woods.
When the campers did their own thing in the afternoon, Steve Christy was paying for groceries at Al's Foods in Crystal Lake. He was sure that the death curse was a figment of the imagination. He would drive back to the camp soon. Alice wanted him to be back.
Trouble was brewing.
***
Crystal Lake Police Officer, Jon Dorf, thirty-three, rode his motorcycle towards the haunted camp. His sunglasses were shining in the summer sun; his blue eyes focused on the group.
'Who are you? And what're you all doing here?', he asked.
'We're campers. I'm Brenda. I'm a volunteer this year', she answered.
'I'm Officer Dorf. I'm looking for Crazy Ralph, the town loony'.
'There's no one here that's crazy', Ned said.
'Cut it, Tonto'.
'Hey, nice bike', Jack said.
'What are you on, boy? Weed, grass...'.
'I don't do drugs, Officer'.
Suddenly the radio mike was on.
It squawked: 'Officer Dorf. Sheriff Earl Tierney wants you back at the Station'.
'This is Officer Dorf. I'm at Camp Crystal Lake. Ralph is not here. I won't stand any kind of weirdness around here'.
Everyone laughed, as he rode his motorcycle back to the Police Station.
***
Alice was cleaning up the larder.
The door opened.
Crazy Ralph appeared.
'Who are you?', she asked.
'Ralph. I'm a Messenger of God. You're doomed if you stay here. The camp has a death curse. Go! Go!'.
Brenda and Ned joined her.
They saw him open the cabin door.
He rode his bicycle away from Camp Crystal Lake.
'You're all doomed!!!', Crazy Ralph said.
And the dark clouds hovered above the lake.
***
Ned watched Jack and Marcie were kissing, and holding hands. He frowned. The dark clouds were coming; it was inevitable. He saw a figure go into cabin 3. 'Hello. Are you one of the campers?', he asked. No one answered. He wanted to tell Alice who was here.
If there was a stranger at the camp, he'll need to tell her, or Bill. Thunder was booming in the early afternoon sky. As he went inside, the killer grabbed her knife. Ned screamed in horror, and his body was on the top bunk.
He died like the others did.
***
Marcie stopped kissing Jack.
'What's the matter?', he asked her.
'I saw Annie, and Steve. They were dead. I have a dream in which the rivers turn to blood, and the blood flows into little rivers', Marcie answered.
'It's only a dream. Hey, this isn't a dream. There's a bad storm brewing'. Jack ran to cabin 3, as Marcie followed her boyfriend into the cabin. By three o'clock in the mid-afternoon, the storm shattered the silence, and the death curse at Camp Crystal Lake was real.
***
Jack was making out with Marcie on the bunk.
'I got to pee', Marcie said.
She grabbed her rain coat with her right hand, and left wished Steve was here. He was late. Jack smoked dope on the bed.
'Hurry up', he said.
He saw her leave the cabin, then he heard the sound of footsteps.
He frowned, as lightning illuminated the cheap window that showed Ned's face. The door opened, and the killer attacked Jack. He backed away in horror. The knife came downward, and he died knowing that the evil of the past, had come back haunt them. And the horror of Camp Crystal Lake didn't end.
***
Marcie flicked on the Ladies' Restroom light.
The room was cheap, and the lighting was bleak in the gloom.
'Lizzie! You will be the death of me!', she uttered.
There was movement across the grey curtain.
Marcie walked towards it.
Then she saw the knife.
She screamed, and her body fell onto the ground.
The killer went after more of the campers.
