Chapter Three
Valentine's Bluff, Canada, February 14, 1980
TJ was drinking at the bar with Sarah.
'We're going to have a party tonight', he told her.
'I'll be there', Sarah smiled.
And he kissed her.

Chief Hal Newby looked at the dead body of Sylvia Deane, the pretty nineteen year old girl; a heart picture was on the card. 'Call the dance party off', the writer said. He shook his head. Mayor Ed Hanninger shook his head. 'What do we do? You don't think Harry Warden's back, do you?', he asked the middle-aged Sheriff. 'Yes, I think so. The kids are planning to make out, do drugs, and listen to Canadian rock music from Montreal, to Alberta', the Mayor answered.
'Okay, we'll tell them', the Chief said.
And that was what they did.

Mrs. Vera Raleigh, sixty, arrived at Todd's Laundry. When she saw the whirring sound, she gasped. She saw the dead body with the clothes. She screamed, as she vanished from the laundry room, and saw Chief Newby.
'She's dead', she uttered.
He shook his head, and knew that Valentine's Bluff was in deep trouble.
