Prologue
Colorado, 1977
Gar Seberg, the long haired, blue eyed, ski instructor, wore a skivvy, flares, and was looking forward to the coming winter season. The problems of avalanches became a worrisome feature of the Resort; the skiers were professional; the amateurs paid money to ride the slopes as the season progressed. Gar, whose real name was Garry, was Swedish, and was born in America in 1950. At twenty-seven, he married Ellen Seberg, a woman who came there during the vacation months of November. She had long, blonde hair, hazel eyes, and average height. Her face was youthful. At twenty-six, she was a year younger than her husband.
'How about a ski, Garry?', she asked him.
'Fine, the regulars will be coming soon', Ellen answered.
'It's 8:00 AM. Sheriff Paraday is coming, if there's any kind of crimes in the place', Garry said.
And Ellen nodded.

Betty Jo, a pretty seventeen year old teenage skier, was grabbing her sticks to ski down the slopes; Jennifer Harris, the seventeen year old skier, and her best friend, was eager to ride the thick snow towards the old hunter's lodge that was nearby. Both young women wore skivvies, flares, and boots on their small feet. 'Stop! There's the trees', Betty Jo said.
'Okay, let's go around it', Jennifer stated.
'Okay', Betty smiled.

The snow beast creature's eyes focused on the teenagers. It had waited for awhile before the intruders did something. It lumbered in the cold snow. The trees was sharp from the branches. Jennifer saw it. And screamed. The snow beast's clawed hands savaged the tree causing it to fall. 'No!!!', Jennifer yelled. She, and Betty Jo, skied away from the monster, and told Garry what happened.
Garry sounded the alarm, and waited for the Sheriff to arrive.

Sheriff Paraday, fifty-nine, had long, black hair, hazel eyes, and was tall. His eyes focused on Gary, as Carrie Rill, the Manager, shivered. She seemed concerned about the impact of the deaths. 'Jennifer and Betty Jo are good skiers. They had an accident', she said.
'Apparently they saw a snow beast', Ellen said.
'Really, some Big Foot like creature', Carrie scoffed.
'Science fiction', the Sheriff said.
'Can we hunt the creature?', Carrie asked him.
'Yes', Garry answered.
And he grabbed his rifle, and begun searching the Resort.
