The young American teenager, David Faraday, seventeen, gazed at his parents as they watched television in the Loungeroom; the Lake Berryessa Road was nearby; the San Francisco Bay Area, including California, was majestic. The locals weren't locking their doors at night; unlike in Boston, several years' back when the Boson Strangler, Albert DeSalvo, terrorized the city.
David was a good, hard working young man.
There wasn't any problems with him; there was nothing out of the ordinary. He had short hair, eyes that gleamed, and was dressed formally when he was at school, or on dates. When he was meeting Betty Lou Jensen, who was sixteen, their parents approved of their romance. It was early in the evening when David picked Betty up; it was the last night of their short lives.
David drove towards Lake Berryessa in his car.
There wasn't anything wrong with being in a "Lover's Lane". Suddenly, as the kissed, someone shot them dead. The killer wore a hood, and a Zodiac sign on his clothes. He was looking at the couple, and knew that his work for the evening had ended; he wasn't going to kill again until next year.
1968 was a bad year.
After the assassinations of Attorney-General Robert Kennedy, the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., and others, and the Vietnam War was dragging on and on and on, the idea that America had a serial killer on the loose, disturbed the peace and love generation to the core.
