Taxi driver Paul Stine was getting a ride late at night.
The Zodiac Killer became a random murderer.
Stine, who was a driver for a long time, was shot to death.
After he died, Inspector Dave Toschi, and his partner, Bill Armstrong, had had enough; Toschi, Armstrong, and crime reporter, Paul Avery, and cartoonist, Robert Graysmith, who also was good at solving ciphers, were on the case to find him. Darkness came to the city of San Francisco, and California. In the year in which there was the notorious 'Helter Skelter' murders in August of that year, and the movie 'Easy Rider', was released by new director Dennis Hopper, and writer/producer Peter Fonda, and Jack Nicholson, and the Woodstock music festival, the political landscape was also filled in controversy after the Chappaquiddick incident that almost sank Senator Edward Kennedy's career, that ended in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, who worked for assassinated Attorney-General, Robert Kennedy in the mid to late 1960's, culminated in a decade of fear that, sadly, never went away.
