The pursuit of happiness is a God-given right,

But darkness surrounds when you’re chasing the light,

Four walls and a roof isn’t building a home,

To look for a partner is to feel alone,

To honour, to fear, to challenge, to trust,

To party, to panic, to fail, to bust,

A welcome, a highlight, a feast with a friend,

To manage to grow we must start with an end,

To break the silence we must make a sound,

To lift ourselves up we must push from the ground,

We should care to show up, to show that we care,

We should share our value, not value our share,

We look for love as if it can be found,

But love waits for us to spread it around,

The smile on the faces of friends when you meet,

The comfort in hugs that we give when we greet,

Too often we confuse a verb for a noun,

Treating actions as objects just lying around,

The things we most want are the things we should do,

Life is for living, and sharing, it’s true,

Love is a verb, it’s the action that’s real,

Then happiness comes in the actions you feel.
