Many worlds exist in the fabric of reality. In places, this fabric knots and frays. In others it is firm, soft or elastic. The setting of Fates is a particular portion of this very fabric, virtually inaccessible to others - even to those who have the ability to access other worlds. It is this inexplicable phenomenon that has sparked the need for maintainers of this portion of the multiverse: a reality that is in constant turmoil, with thick, large strands, each strand further from the next. Each strand - a world that contains multiple galaxies, lives, deaths and everything in-between - makes up a whole. Between these strands, energies flow and may even intersect, having links with each other which may, or may not, serve an ultimate, divine purpose. The maintainers, a select few that are brought into existence at unique and ever changing intervals (sometimes leading to multiple existing at one point in relative time) are given a special role by the intangible communicator of fate. This role is that of Fate Bearers. Their mission is to guide the Fate of very special individual entities, dubbed Legends. Each world has a Legend, but only one. Within the potentially infinite galaxies, the infinite planets, the infinite life forms, only one can exist in a universal strand. For perspective: our existence, Earth, the Milky Way, is but one of (assumed) infinite galaxies, correct? Now imagine, if you will, just one body of mass housed even just one life form, not 8 billion like our own. Theoretically, that would mean that in our world thread there are infinite life forms. Now, our sector (if it can be called that) is unique, just like every other sector. It has very closely wound threads. At points these threads even touch, enabling transference and even co-existence of worlds that were not intended to even have made contact. Ever wondered about ghosts, or perhaps those with extra-perceptual abilities?
