It was 5:30 AM. I had not gone to sleep yet and I knew that I wouldn't get the chance any longer, seeing as I had to get dressed for school and catch the bus. It was my Freshman year in high school and had been the first day. I didn't really care about impressions, but I definitely did not want to be late. I unlocked my phone to see my reminder.
"First day of school, Anna! Be prepared!"
I shuddered at the sight of my name. I hated it so much for some reason. It just didn't feel like.. Me.. I put on black sweatpants with a brown, skeleton sweatshirt and some white shoes. I left my long hair down and put a black beanie on. It was fall so it had been a bit cold. I put on a bit of mascara, but not too much. I then grabbed my backpack and left at 6:00 for the bus.
My house was far from the school and I was always the first to get picked up in the morning. I would sit on the bus by myself for an hour before we arrived at school. I didn't sit with anybody in my seat. I didn't have many friends to be honest. When the bus got to the school I picked up my backpack and held my phone in my hand as I walked out of the bus. I read a story I had been reading a lot recently on my phone, rarely taking my eyes off of it. As I was staring at the words on my phone I had accidentally bumped into someone.
"Shit, I'm so sorry-" I said, "I was reading something on my phone,"
I bent down to help pick up the books I had just knocked out of this person's hands. When I looked up it was a boy. I'd seen him around a lot. He had been in the majority of my classes throughout middle school. Always had his head in the books.291Please respect copyright.PENANAIMbflxH6Ge
"Oh- Razmus! I am so sorry, dude; I didn't mean to knock your books over," I apologized again. He looked up at me.291Please respect copyright.PENANAMylK1OdJUa
"Oh- Anna," He said, "Don't worry about it- it isn't a problem at all!" He replied.
"Yeah- uh- just call me A, please," I asked with a slight look of disgust on my face.
"Do you not like your name?" He asked, immediately noticing the look on my face.291Please respect copyright.PENANAK5SX24lNyE
"Yeah- it uh- just doesn't feel like me, you know?" I answered, "feels a bit to... I don't know just like.. Out of place.. Almost like it's too feminine for me I don't know,"291Please respect copyright.PENANA9e1z5amlQf
Razmus nodded.
"I completely understand," He replied. I smiled at him slightly.
"Well- we should get to class. Sorry again!" I said as I quickly left, waving goodbye. I opened my schedule on my phone and checked the room number of my first class. I had Biology first period, but I was on the wrong floor. I climbed up two flights of stairs and finally reached the right floor. After a few minutes I found my classroom. I got to school early so that meant I had enough time to pick a good seat. Of course I went with the obvious choice; the back of the classroom. I sat in the seat in the farthest corner in the back of the room and sat down. I then re-opened my phone and started reading again.
