Your girlfriend Angella opens your bedroom door and closes it quickly behind her. She says “We need to talk.” It was obvious she was worried about something. You were even more worried for the fact that she spoke those very words to you.
A million things were just flying through your mind as you tried to listen to what she was saying to you. She was your first girlfriend and you thought things were going fine between you two, so you thought. You wondered if she was planning on breaking up with you. You were just about to tell her how much she means to you and that you could never live without her when all of a sudden she spoke the following.
“I have something very important to tell you and you can’t say anything to anyone. You can’t tell your friends, not your teachers, and not even your parents. Please listen to me carefully because I’m only going to say this once.” She looked outside your window and quickly closed your window curtains. That’s when you realized that maybe something strange was going on with her. This didn’t seem at all about breaking up with you and she wasn’t acting like herself.
She got closer to you and began to whisper. She looked at you straight into your eyes, almost making you a bit uncomfortable. She began to speak and confess a huge secret to you. “My name isn’t really Angella, its Neeka. My family and I are actually spies. We are spies for hire. And my job, along with my pretend family is to steal secrets from your government.” You instantly smile thinking how clever of a joke.
She could instantly see it in your face that you didn’t think she was serious about all that. She got closer to you. “This isn’t a game and I’m not playing a prank or something on you. I’m being serious right now. My family, pretend family, needs your help. I need your help. Someone is on to us. We don’t know who. But it’s getting dangerous and we don’t want to do this anymore.”
“Ok, slow down. Why me? Nee…” You struggle to believe every word she says. However, something about her worried look and the tone in her voice makes you want to believe her. You’ve never seen her so scared before.
“Neeka. My name’s Neeka. I’m so sorry for lying to you for the last 2 years of our relationship. The reason I came here to you is because… because I really trust you. You’re our last chance of getting out of here alive…” As she said her last words your father knocked on your bedroom door. He opened the door abruptly. Neeka stepped to the side. Your father had one eyebrow up thinking you two were doing something he just didn’t want to know about. He sighs as he shakes his head.
“What did I tell you last time? …about when guest come over?” Your dad looks at you with a stern look.
You just had your mouth open not knowing what to say. “When guest come over, they hangout downstairs where your mom and I can see you. I know it’s not cool when parents are all in your business but that’s the rule of this house, ok?”
“It’s ok Mr. Davidson, I was just leaving.” Neeka said that with a very perky and sweet voice. In a split second she completely changed her mood to fool your father. It caught you off guard since you’ve never seen her do that before. “It’s getting late anyways. Good night.” Mr. Davidson looked at his watch a little confused seeing that it was just 6 p.m. He didn’t think it was that late. Neeka walked out of your room, went quickly down the stairs and out the front door.
“Uhmm.” That was all that came out of your mouth. Everything was happening so fast. As your father shrugs his shoulders and walks out your room, you notice a piece of paper on the floor. Neeka must have dropped it, but when?
When you unfold the piece of paper, it reads: Meet me tonight down the street at 11:30 p.m. behind the Burger Kingdom.
If you sneak out of the house at that hour and you get caught, you know your parents will literally kill you.
