The first thing I see when I open my eyes is the face of a small child extremely close to mine.
"Aaaaahh!" I scream, scrambling to my feet and glancing around quickly. "Where am I?"
"Who are you and how did you find this place?"
I turn and look up at the elderly woman who has just spoken to me and reply hastily, "Oh, um, hi...I'm (Y/N). I don't know how I got here - wherever "here" is. Uhhhh, do you not get many visitors?"
"No. We do not take kindly to visitors here."
The weight of the crowd is bearing down on me and I search for a friendly face. "Well, I'm dreadfully sorry to intrude upon your beautiful town, so I'll just be going now, if you could please point me in the right direction...?"
"NO! You cannot leave; you know the location of our Encanto."
"Oooookay, so I guess I'm staying here then?" I mean, it's better than the previous life I had!
The woman just stalks away leaving me with the crowd. "Um, hiiiiiii, what's up? Uh, I guess I'm staying here now?"
A little girl who I recognize as the small child I had woken up to steps closer and whispers "Are you here to kidnap us?"
I look at her serious face and burst out laughing. "Why would I do that?!?" Seeing the same emotion as the little girl's projected on many adult's faces in the crowd, I say, "Did you think I was a threat?"
A girl about my age steps close to me and says, "Oh, they're just cauteloso because of my abuela. Don't be worried. I'm Mirabel."
I let out a sigh of relief. "Hey, I'm (Y/N)."
She smiles. "I know. Come with me."
As I turn to follow her, I notice I really cute guy just about my age standing off to the side. He catches my gaze for a moment before smirking and looking away and I lose sight of him in the crowd. Oh, what have I stumbled into? I suddenly realize I have fallen behind the girl I had been following. "Hey! Wait up, Mirabel!"
