Rachael is here! Repeat Rachael, the love of my life and the cause of my childhood happiness, is here at this camp! I sensed her suppressed magic as soon as I walked into camp. Regretfully, the location that I would find her is at a camp full of regular humans: therefore, I couldn’t purge my magic out amongst the humans to find her. I mentally chastised myself for passing on the lesson that would teach me how to make my magic invisible to humans. If only younger I had known that Rachael would disappear to live amongst humans. I should have though been able to see the signs that Rachael would disappear one day. Rachael would have to sneak out her house to be with me and she was never allowed to use her magic. My mother, Rachael’s mother’s best and closest friend, is the only person that even visited them. It was obvious that Rachael’s mother was trying to hide something, but young me could never understand why and even years older now I still don’t fully understand why. I do know one thing: Rachael’s mother wasn’t trying to hide so much as trying to hide who and what Rachael is. I mean Rachael’s mother left her homeland, a place where all people with magic abilities can live freely, to go into the human world and use her magic to become a king’s wife just for Rachael to be hidden away in a castle. Rachael’s mother might seem like a great person to any humans, but she is legendary in the magic realm for producing the highest human casualty count in the long history of our safe haven. When some of my people wanted to make our own presence known to the human world Rachael’s mother is one of the reasons that the council of our realm agreed to make it happen. Obviously, we didn’t tell or let on to any of the other human kingdoms that our kingdom was mostly made up of witches, warlocks, and all other magical beings and so had to present ourselves as humans. It was a great deciding factor though to find one of our very own living legends, thought to have disappeared, had in fact already adapted herself within plain sight at the same time well-hidden in the human world as a queen with her daughter the next heir as a princess. Rachael’s mother had been visiting the royal family of a human kingdom when she had sensed and caught one of the warlock spies sent to the human world and she sent word through the spy that she would back up all movements the council would make for the magic realm to enter the human world, but only if I, Gale, were to be appointed prince.
