Chapter Three
Jennifer waited.
She couldn't believe that sleep wouldn't come.
The darkness had arrived; the shadows were deep.
New York in 1983 was full of crime.
The subways were the worse since the 1970's. She was afraid to sleep. The noises of the yelling neighbors in her apartment was frequent; her hazel eyes focused on the security alarm system in the hallway. She was scared since her boyfriend's death in the last year of 1982; she was thinking that life was hurtful.
As she kept her light on in her bedroom, the idea of sleep was far away.
