The next month seems to go by faster than expected. Next thing I know, my eighteenth birthday rolls around and my parents try taking me out to celebrate but I say I don't want to.
"Oh, but sweetie..." Mom's standing in my doorway.
"I said no, mom. I don't want to. I don't want people to find out I'm only eighteen and five months pregnant. I don't want them to think you and dad are irresponsible parents because of a choice I made on my own."
"Well, we do have some news for you," she says and looks over her shoulder at dad as he approaches.
"What news is that?"
She sighs. "Zoe, we're moving to Romania."
I gasp. "But mom, you know we can't go to Europe because of the danger in imposes on our family."
"Sweetie, we'll be fine. We decided that the best place for you to successfully give birth to a vampire is in Romania. Especially with your baby's father so close at hand."
At the mention of him, my head jerks up.
"But how do I know whether if he's forgotten me or not?" I ask.
"Only time will tell," they reply in unison.
"And when are we moving?"
"We wanted to ask you when you wanted to go."
"I'd say this month. I mean, my pregnancy is already showing quite a bit. And with my belly showing this much at this time in the pregnancy makes me sure that it's not just one baby. I believe it's twins."
Mom and dad exchange a glance, obviously concerned.

A week later, on the 28th of July, we're already settled in Romania. Mom's working two jobs. She said it was best that dad stay home with me because he knows more about vampires than she does. She also said that it's safer for him to stay home because there's no telling if that guy that's after us will spot him or not.
Also, Susana, my aunt on dad's side, visits me every time she gets a chance, considering she's a doctor at the hospital. The pain from my pregnancy is getting really bad. I'm starting to lose strength a whole lot more. Dad says I look really pale and my skin seems to be close to fitting my face almost perfectly, which is a bad thing. Yet again, it's the fifth month almost the sixth month. The babies are supposed to be due on November 20th, but it's possible for it to be born earlier or later. Also, after we moved here to Romania, I was taken to the hospital to check on the pregnancy and turns out I was right. It's twins. They don't know the genders yet, though. It's believed that the twins are identical. I just wish the pregnancy was over. It's like someone is slowly draining the life out of me and it's torturous.
Two months later, I feel a sharp pang in my abdomen in the middle of the night and I wake myself up shrieking in pain. I throw the blankets to the side and lie there, trying to soothe the pain by breathing deeply. Suddenly, I see slight movement over in the corner by my desk. I glance over and see nobody. Then, a familiar-sounding voice whispers into the darkness,
"Someone seems to be in a lot of pain."
I hear something clink as if a glass was being set down on a table. Then, I hear soft footsteps and a tall, lean figure comes into view. As the figure gets closer, the face becomes noticeable in the faint light struggling through the thin curtain on my window.
"Dracula," I murmur.
"Yes. Did you really think I'd forget you?"
"I don't--Ah!" I cry out in pain. Suddenly, I feel a thud. I gasp and place my hand over the spot that I felt the thud. It comes again. Two at the same time. They both kicked.
Dracula must see the look on my face because he looks at me with a confused look on his face. I sigh and say two words that end up changing his life,
"I'm pregnant. With twins."
His face changes to surprise and then to realization in a heartbeat.
"You're pregnant? With TWINS?"
"Yes."
"And I'M the father?"
"Yes."
He looks at me intently and I can tell that he can't decide whether he believes me or not.
I sigh and look away. "I'm sorry, I didn't--"
"Why are you apologizing to me?"
I look up at him, amazed by his question. "But I thought--"
"I wasn't really looking forward to something like this, but I still can't help but, um....I can't think of the right words to explain it."
"To a man like you it sounds like a miracle," I mutter. "A conversation with Dorabella on the Demeter."
"How do you know about that?"
"I've watched a TV show on Netflix by BBC called Dracula. It was made in January of 2020. And I'm guessing by what you just said that the things that happened in that show actually happened."
"Yeah, but I didn't think I would actually get lucky enough to get a gift like children from the one I betrayed centuries ago by choosing the devil's side instead of His."
"God. The Lord. The heavenly father."
"Yes. He's the one in charge of this sort of thing, so completely unexpected. And most definitely not two of them." He sighs. "Do you know the genders?"
"Now I do. I just found out a week ago. One's a boy and the other's a girl. I've already picked out names for them. They're both vampires, too. And they're identical twins."
"Wow. One of both genders. Um, when are they due?"
"November. Supposed to be born on the 20th but they could be born earlier or later."
"What names did you pick?"
"Midnight Rose for the girl and Vladislav VI for the boy."
"What about their last name?"
"Midnight Rose Dracula and Vladislav VI Dracula."
"Oh."
"What? Did you think I'd give them my last name?"
"Maybe."
"Well, if you think about it, if we were together, Dracula would be their last name."
"So you have two more months."
"Yes."
"What are you doing here in Romania, then?"
"My dad and aunt said it probably isn't safe to give birth and raise vampires in the US, so we came here. Also, I figured it'd be safer to give birth with you close at hand."
"Why?"
"My aunt and dad said that I might not survive the birth because of what they are. They survive off of what you survive off of. It's kind of like Bella Swan's pregnancy from Twilight, but worse. Twice as worse because there's two instead of one. They said it's a thirty out of one hundred percent chance for me to survive."
"Well, if it's that bad, then why don't I just stay, so I can already be here and they don't have to call me to come? Hmm?"
"I don't know if they'll let you stay."259Please respect copyright.PENANADpfUqSlI2E
"Well, then I guess I'll talk to them tomorrow about it."
