She looked at me, indifference in her cold, lifeless eyes. "Because I never loved you."

She flipped her hair back and looked down at her phone, disinterested in my affliction.

The spike in my voice startled her, lifting her gaze from the screen. "To tell the truth, I was interested in your brother. But, since he was already taken, I assumed you'd be good enough. Thanks for proving me wrong."
Her admission dashed me apart like a blade to my heart, love spilling out instead of blood. Cold, cold ice spread through my body. Hope was now lost, my faith in womankind eliminated.
