As the Rangers celebrated their victory over Venjix together back at Grid Battleforce, suddenly a bright white light filled the room, forcing everyone to shut and cover their eyes. When it faded, Kali was gone. "Kali? Kali!" Devon called out worriedly.
"What just happened? Where's Kali?" Zoey echoed Devon's concern.
"I…I don't know. Kali, do you copy?" Nate tried asking over the comm, but it was just static. The joyful atmosphere had changed in an instant to one of worry and confusion. The Rangers now had a new mission: find Kali, and no one was more determined to find her than Devon.
Kali's POV
The bright white light engulfed me, momentarily blinding me, before gradually shifting to a mesmerizing green hue. As my vision cleared, I could make out three distinct helmets that bore an uncanny resemblance to those of Power Rangers: one in red and white, another in blue and white, and the third in green and white. My immediate concern was for my friends. "Where are my friends?" I inquired anxiously.
"Your friends are safe. They may be wondering about your whereabouts, but fear not," a voice responded, though it was hard to discern which face behind the helmets it originated from.
The confusion gnawed at me, and I couldn't help but ask, "Where am I? Am I dead?"
"No, you are very much alive," the enigmatic voice reassured.
"You are in the Morphin Grid," chimed in another.
"In the Morphin Grid? How is that even possible?" My voice trembled with bewilderment.
"Your victory against Venjix has led you here, but there is more at stake—a multiversal war awaits," they explained.
"Multiversal war? Why me? I'm not special. I was controlled and tortured by Venjix, and all I want is to be back home with my friends," I retorted, a tinge of vulnerability in my tone.
"Please, hear us out first. Then, if you still wish to return home, we shall honor your decision," they urged.
With a sigh of resignation, I agreed, "Fine."
"Thank you. The Morphin Grid is in peril, as Lord Drakkon seeks to absorb as much morphing energy as possible, annihilating any who oppose him. Many Rangers have already fallen, and unless he's stopped, he'll reach your home, and your friends will be in grave danger," they explained, their words heavy with urgency.
So that's what he's been up to.
"Why me? There are other Rangers who are far stronger," I pointed out, but silence ensued.
"Lord Drakkon...is an alternate version of Tommy, who became evil after slaying Rita. His first victim was the good Tommy," they revealed, leaving me utterly taken aback.
"Dr. Oliver came to Coral Harbor and helped me overcome my guilt. He even gave me his Dragon Dagger," I said, taking out the weapon and holding it in my hands as tears formed in my eyes at the memories of Dr. Oliver.
"Tommy knew you were special, and even now, the Dragon Dagger will aid you," they responded.
"But I'm not special! Why not seek help from Zordon or Ninjor, or perhaps form a temporary alliance with other evil entities like Dark Specter, Ivan Ooze, or King Mondo..." I proposed, trying to find an alternative solution.
"Kali, your unique connection to the Morphin Grid makes you indispensable. You possess the ability to travel through it without any external assistance," they revealed, leaving me utterly bewildered.
"What? I don't understand. How? Why?" I questioned, my mind racing with the revelation.
"It was your biological mother who sent you through the Grid when you were just a few weeks old, in an attempt to protect you. There is much more to your family's story, but in short, you ended up in Coral Harbor, on your adopted parents' doorstep," they explained, unraveling a truth that had eluded me for so long.
I was adopted this whole time!? Huh, I guess that actually explains a lot.
"Protect me? From what?" I asked, trying to come to terms with the revelations that were reshaping my understanding of who I truly was.
"Your father, Lord Drakkon."
