Exactly what the title says, here’s a list of random and weird rules my parents have, or have had, that I think are a load of shit ☺️
1. I have to let my mum proof read all my graded assignments before handing them in;
I half get that you wanna make sure I like did it but she will like read through it as if it’s a legal document that needs to be proofread and she would correct all my essays when I was like 13.
2. No boys
This one was set by my dad but obviously he doesn’t enforce it anymore, dating Will and all that, but I was a bitchy and spiteful child and had a girlfriend when I was 13 so.
3. I can’t do more that two hours of homework a night
never make a limit of studying on your children unless it’s out of hand, I was 12 in my first year if highschool being screamed at for taking longer on my homework. Not gonna have that for my future children.
4. My mum can go through my phone whenever she wants
i get this one, but the problem is whenever we would argue she would go through it, the reason I knew is because my phone is connected to my laptop and I was always on it under the sheets around when she would always do this. I get checking a kids phone and following their social media, but I’m talking almost every night she would check it (and still sometimes dose) yes I do fight with my mum that much.
5. social media
i still don’t have Snapchat, or Insta, or even bloody Facebook, or TikTok
6. Baby sit my younger siblings whenever I was asked
agin, kind of valid, but like it was a condition of getting my pocket money and I feel I should have been payed separately but whatever.
7. No blanket forts
ridiculous, when I was ten I wasn’t allowed to make blanket forts anymore. Made one when I was 13, again, little shit who didn’t wanna listen, and my mum was so mad she threw my phone
8. no phones in the room at night
again, kinda get it, but the level it was enforced was servere, once my mum came in and yelled at half asleep me because there was no phone for her to go through.
9. No makeup
i wasn’t allowed to wear makeup, even mascara, until I was 12. Then when I was 12 all of a sudden my mum was pushing things like skincare and lipgloss and mascara and concealer. -1000/10, just made me insecure.
10: I have to straighten my hair
again, my mums kinda given up on enforcing it because I’ll throw a fit. No valid reason for this, she just hates that my hair was curly/wavy. Meanwhile she tried to deny its curly while my dad literally has the curliest hair. Again, just makes me insecure whenever she tells me to straighten it, would not recommend. Once I asked my mum to tie my hair in a braid and she started straightening it so I pulled away, and therefore got yelled at.

moral of the story is that my mums a control freak, I will not listen to rules I don’t like, and I hate my hair straight.
