The sound of my bedroom door cracking snaps me out of my dream. The sudden action makes me forget what I was dreaming about. My heartbeat increased as I opened my eyes, looking towards the door to see who was it. But it was too dark to see anything and I was too scared to move or even make a sound.
The sound of footsteps echoed on the wood floor of my room made my body froze in place. A shiver run down my spine as they were coming closer and closer. Sweat starting dripping out of my forhead. My mouth was dry and I swear I stopped breathing for a moment.
The moon outside send enough like through my windows to see a tiny silhouette approaching me. I quickly closed my eyes tight.
I felt my sheets shifting under me, a small hand runs up and down my arm.
I slowly opened my eyes at the sweet and calm voice talking to me.
“Did I scared you sweetie?” She asked me in her normally gentle tone.
“Grandma? What are you doing up at this hour ?” I said, getting up confused.
“I can’t sleep without apologizing to you, my dear. I know this is not what you want, I’m so sorry I did this to you but trust me, it’s the best for you.” She replied. I could tell she was on the verge of crying by her voice but what is she talking about?
I frowned at her sudden confession not clearly understanding what’s going on.
“What are you sorry about, grandma? What did you do? Are you okay?” I was really worried.
“My dear,” She said taking my hand in her’s “I’m an old and sick woman” She smiled a weak smile “We both know I’m not going to be around for long and you can’t give up on your dream of going to a good university and becoming the best lawyer if you’re going to spare your time to have a job too. You won’t have enough time for both. So just trust me — he’ll take a better care for you than I ever did.”
She placed a gentle kiss on my forhead and with that she got up and left my room leaving me in a dumbfounded. My mind was completely buried in a thick fog.
Who was she talking about ?
I quickly get out of bed and run to the door. As soon as I opened it I fell down some stairs. What?
Leading on the ground at the bottom of the stairs, two pairs of black shoes stopped in front of me. I looked up at the man standing there but I couldn’t see his face.
He stretched out his hands for me to take. He helped me get up on my feet but he didn’t let go.
“Come on honey, let’s go home.” His deep, husky voice ringing through my ears.
Honey ? Home ? Who the heck is he, first of all ?
He turned around, his back facing me now and dragging me out the house.
I struggle to break from his grip but he only tightened it making me wince in pain.
“Who are you ? Let me go!” I yelled at him still struggling.
“Oh honey,” he said, his voice low “don’t you know it’s not polite to yell at your husband?” He let out a mischievous laugh.
“Husband? I’m not married to you, I don’t even know who the fuck you are” I retorted angry.
“From now one you are so shut the fuck up and don’t you dare disrespect me like that ever again, Understand?” He growled.
I placed my both of my hand on his chest pushing him away from me with all the force I could gather.
He barely flinch, making him let out a scuff. I could literally feel him smirking, proud of himself.
I saw him raising his hand. Right when his hand was about to make contact with my check, he disappeared.
I was now back in my bed room. It was all just a bad dream.
I stand up exhaling and waping out the sweat that formed on my face. With a sigh I calmed myself down and looked over to my nightstand searching for my phone.
As my eyes reach it, I took it and looked at the clock.
Fuck! I was late for school. I was never late for school in my life.
I jumped out of bed, quickly doing my routine and running to school.
When I entered my class everyone was already there, including my teacher. I awkwardly smiled at him with the corner of my mouth as he looked at my over his glasses.
“I’m sorry I’m late Mr. Lee. I overslept. I promise it won’t happen again.”
“I know it’s your first time being late at my class Miss Kim, but the rules are still rules. Detention!” He exclaimed pushing his glasses back on his nose .
A silent sigh of relief left my lips. It could have been worse.
I went to my seat places next to Somin in our shared table.
From my left I heard Jimin whispering loud enough for me and his freands to hear.
“Look guys, Miss perfection got detention. How sad.” He laughed along with his crowd of tembels.
“Shut up you fucker. You’re the last idiot I want to deal with today.” I spit back annoyed with his behavior.
“Too bad sweetheart. You’ll have to deal with me in detention too.” He winked at me.
I rolled my eyes and placed my head on the table, cursing at myself for sleeping so much.
He laughed at my actions. I hope he’ll choke on his food at lunch.
