Ju Yi invited all the Clans. Xue Yang had called some of his close friends from Lotus Pier with their family; one week before the wedding day, they could assist him with the preparation.
The next day,
Xingchen's mother got up early and had been in a fever of excitement and activity all day.
Wei Ying arrived with his husband Lan Zhan and child A-Yuan; Jiang Cheng came with his wife Wen Qing; Jiang Yanli with her husband Jin Zixuan and child Jin Ling.
Jiang Yanli and Wen Qing assisted Yu Ziyuan with the preparation. A Yuan, Jin Ling, and Ju Yi were busy playing outside. Lan Zhan, Jiang Cheng, Jin Zixuan went to look around the newly built palace, and the decoration's with Xue Yang.
Wei Ying rushed into Xingchen's room and hugged him tightly. Xingchen was ecstatic to see his childhood friend.
"I heard that you have a child Wei Ying. Did you bring him with you?"
A-yuan came running with a toy in his hand, fell, and started crying.
"There he is," Wei Ying said while picking up A-yuan.
"He is so cute; he looks like his father," Xingchen said while he kissed A-yuan's cheeks.
Wei Ying said in an irritating tone, "No!! He looks like me".
"No!! He looks like me," Lan Zhan said while he was passing by and heard Wei Ying and picked A-yuan in his arms.
Xingchen laughed, but he could not continue laughing when Xue Yang said, "My baby should look like Xingchen, don't you think Wei Ying?"
Everybody laughed while a rush of shyness sent color to Xingchen's cheeks, and he tore his gaze from everybody, focusing his attention on the curtains. Both of them left the room, leaving Wei Ying and Xingchen to continue their conversation.
"A-yuan come now, we are waiting for you we have built a sandcastle," said Ji Li.
"Ok, Ok, coming," A-yuan jumped down and ran away to play.
"Carefully!! A-yuan," Wei Ying said when he saw him running.
Wei Ying looked around and closed the door, then rushed towards his things and pulled out A-yuan's small bag, and pulled out the emperor's smile.
"You kept it in A-yuan's bag?" Xingchen said while laughing out loud.
"Lan Zhan does not allow me to drink, so I had to figure out some way to sneak out my emperor smile," whispered Wei Ying while kissing the jar.
"Today is your last night as a bachelor; we will make sure that we celebrate it with full spirit," he said while standing on the table and raising the Jar.
"Wei Ying!!" Lan Zhan was on the door.
Wei Ying stumbled, Xingchen got hold of him, and his emperor smile; they hid the jar and opened the door.
"Ya! Lan Zhan," Wei Ying asked.
"I am not able to find my clothes; come and help me." Wei Ying left with Lan Zhan.
"Xingchen, come down." Yu Ziyuan called out for Xingchen.
Xingchen replied, "Yes!!" and rushed downwards.
The tailor was there to measure so that he can start preparing the wedding dresses for them. The tailor took the measurement and left.
"Merchant is here," servant kowtowed.
"Bring him," said Yu Ziyuan, and the merchant had brought varieties of expensive jewelry and head accessories. Everybody was amazed at seeing the collection.
"Wen Qing and Jiang Yanli, you should also have a look." Yu Ziyuan said.
Jiang Cheng and Jin Zixuan enjoyed the garden walk, but that enjoyment was not for long as they were called by their wives for the most challenging task- selecting items for their wives.
A pleasant feeling of excitement and an expectation of something joyful and solemn was aroused among them.
"Xingchen select," Wei Ying said, excitement in his voice.
Xingchen was so confused on seeing the variety and could not select.
Xingchen's nervous gaze flickered to Xue Yang; he picked one of the jewelry and said
"This one will look good on my bride," and Lan Zhan also picked one of the items and, with a blank face, repeated the same words for Wei Ying and left for their usual thing.
Wei Ying's and Xingchen's face turned red, and both of them kept quiet as they felt shy.
Yu Ziyuan teased both of them and asked the merchant to pack all the selected items.
While crossing the balcony above, Xue Yang and Lan Zhan kept staring and smiling at their wives. While they were busy buying stuff for themselves, they noticed that their husbands were smiling at them.
All of them exchanged smiles, and Yu Ziyuan teased them while saying, "Xingchen select things, you have your whole life to smile at Xue Yang," and the place was filled with laughter.
It was dinner time now; the table was full of sumptuous dishes. Everybody was enjoying the dinner.
"You're supposed to eat with a spoon or a fork," Wei Ying instructed as he finished wiping the little hand.
It was now time for the drinks.
While Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng sneaked into Xingchen's room, Lan Zhan and Xue Yang went out to meet Ju Yi regarding security arrangements. Others went back to their room to sleep.
Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng were having an adult talk with Xingchen,
"You are going to start a new life with Xue Yang, so make sure that you never hide any truth or lose trust in Xue Yang. He has struggled to protect you from all the danger and protect him till your last breath. You will also have to bear the heir of Maple Clan. It will be challenging and painful for you, but you have to do it for Xue Yang."
Xingchen smiled while he was feeling nervous inside. They all sat around a table, cheering and enjoying their drinks.
Wei Ying was drunk and said, "Lan Zhan never allow me to drink, so I have to drink while he is out for night hunt. He always teaches me as if I don't know anything. I am more intelligent than him; what do you think, Jiang Cheng?"
"Ya!! You are right. Wei Ying. My Wife also keeps bossing me ."
Jiang Cheng and Wei Ying were now totally drunk.
They both said in one tone, "Xingchen never let Xue Yang overpower you!! Got it?"
Xingchen agreed with them; he did not drink as he was strict with his principles even though Wei Ying forced him to drink.
Lan Wangji's room was just next to Xingchen's room, and on hearing laughter from Xingchen's room, Lan Wangji knew that Wei Ying must be drinking.
He knocked on the door.
With full confidence holding the jar in his hand, he opened the door and asked Lan Wangji if he could help with him.
Xingchen tried to stop Wei Ying, but being drunk, he could not stop Wei Ying.
Lan Wangji looked at Wei Ying and, without saying a word, picked him and took him to the room.
Wen Qing came to Xingchen's room to look for Jiang Cheng, and Jiang cheng fell while he was about to hide behind the curtains, but he was too drunk to feel the landing.
Wen Qing called guards to carry him to his room. She Kowtowed and apologized on behalf of his husband.
Now, Xingchen was alone in the room. Xue Yang was not allowed to see Xingchen before the wedding now, so they both looked at the moon from their windows with excitement in their heart.
On the other hand, Lan Zhan waited for A-Yuang to fall asleep so that he could find a chance to tease Wei Ying. As soon as A-Yuang fell asleep, Lan Zhan picked up Wei Ying while he was in his drunk sleep; took him to the adjoining room, and Wei Ying kept scolding Lan Zhan while he continued making love to him.
~~~The Wedding Day
Yu Ziyuan being Xingchen's mother, offered gifts, which included scissors like two butterflies, never separating and vases for peace and wealth.
Xingchen was helped by a respectable older woman to tie up his hair with colorful cotton threads. And help with wearing the red Hanfu as they believed red foreshadowed delight and covered his face by a red head-kerchief.
Wei Ying led Xingchen along the red carpet in a festive atmosphere. Xue Yang, also in a red gown. Amidst all this, a tear came out of Xue Yang's eye, and he started remembering all the struggles they had to go through to unite; and he had almost lost Xingchen, and now he was standing right beside him as his life partner. Xingchen gave a nervous wave, watching for Xue Yang's reaction, and was relieved when he offered a warm smile.
They kowtowed three times to worship heaven, parents, and spouse. After that, they sat on the throne while the guests were treated to a feast. Jiang Cheng and Jin Zixuan poured wine for the Clan leaders. They had to make sure wine was poured to the brim of a cup and must not spill over. Lan Zhan, Wen Qing, Jiang Yanli, Ju Yi, and Yu Ziyuan attended to the guest and sent them off nicely.
Every guest commented on how beautiful they looked, and they were left speechless by the displays.
Then the new couple went to their bridal chamber.
As soon as the door closed, Xue Yang picked up Xingchen and started kissing him.
